Post software update battery life issue

Has anyone else out there noticed a meaningful increase in battery consumption after the software upgrade? If so, any ideas as to why this might be happening and how to correct the issue?

Stopped working in under 5 hours...

I got my phone just about four hours ago, and already I'm having a big problem: the earpiece stopped working!

Whenever I make or receive a call, I can't hear a damn thing from the other end. If I switch to speakerphone I can hear fine, but not through the regular earpiece. Nor can I use a headset. And yes, I've had the earpiece volume up to high with no change.

Can someone please help!

Which future Dial cable?

The guy at radio shack told me it was cable number 19. But the only way it fits in the phone is if you force it. Dont want to break the phone with a bad cable if anyone know which is the right one can you let me know.

After the software upgrade

I finally got the software/firmware updated to v2. Now I see a banner "verizon Wireless" blocking my nice wallpaper. Also, everytime a phone ring or when you dial a phone, "Verizon Wireless" is heard. Can I remove these annonying features?

reception-again

I am a long time (10 years) Nokia user and live in central Maryland and have been with Cingular for 10 years. I can't remember having a dropped call or even very choppy reception for any lenght of time. I want to get a phone that has features that Cingyular's does not have and so I am strongly considering a switch to Verizon. My choice is the 6100. However, I am concerned about what seems to be a lot of complaints about no reception, choppy reception, roaming , etc.

I presume that some of this relatess to pockets that always exist where reception is problematic. There also are concerns about the phone switching to analog. Isn't that what a tri mode is supposed to do? Does this greatly affect reception? The signal here in centra...

6000 w/o analog might be better for some locations

I have had this phone for 4 days now and i like it but there is one major problem. At several locations i go to, the 6100 goes into analog mode and the signal is not strong enough to have a conversation at all. With my old 6000 the phone would roam onto sprints network and signal was perfect. Havent read the book yet but if there is no "dont use analog setting" im stuck with going back to the 6000.

Specific 6100 vs. 7000 RF Questions, quick replies needed from those who've had both

I've got a 6100 that works fairly well but I have to use force mode to get a usable (800mHz, extended USCC network) signal inside at both my workplace and at home. Yes, I live in a 1900 PCS area.

I'm thinking of switching to a 7000 and have a couple days yet to do it.

My questions:
For those who have had both. WILL the 7000 pick up and hold a USABLE digital signal in marginal areas (indoors, basement, etc.) where the 6100 either switched on its own or (more likely) needed to be manually forced to a different mode? Are the Rx Power numbers different enough between the two?

Many thanks to those who reply.

old style land line "bell" ringer

I heard this ringer the other day and found it so much less objectionable then most.
I wonder where to find this "sample" and if it can be loaded into the 6100?

Quick 6100 Comparison and Questions.....

How am I supposed to take it back? Do I want to take it back? Anyway, the 7000 doesn't have analog, and I know everyone is going digital but what about the mean time? I was in Chicago, am the 7000 didn't sound good at all, do you think it was the phone?

It would be cool if verizon would throw in the 7000a in to the line up. It has analog.

I still am confussed about the whole analog and digital thing, maybe I have has bad phones.
I JUST WANT A PHONE THAT WORKS,
ist that so wrong?

How does the 6100 rate against others like, 7000, 710, samsung, any other?

Good Luck Getting Software Upgrade

Here in Virginia, good luck getting a VX-6100 upgrade from Verizon Wireless. You'll need it.

TRY #1: Alexandria Store (Little River Turnpike): After a two hour wait, I got the phone back to find no software upgrade. When I went back to the store, they said, "Our cable doesn't work and we couldn't upgrade your phone." You'd think they'd tell me that when I dropped it off, or at LEAST when I picked it up. But instead they acted as though the work was already done.

TRY #2: Tyson's Corner Store: I dropped it off, came back two hours later. Result: the phone was broken during the upgrade and a new one would have to be shipped to me. To their credit, they gave me a phone to use until the new one arrived. And don't worry, they said, t...

RPI Wireless Cable and Programs Problems

Anyone having difficulty installing this equipment which is supposed to charge the 6100, allow the installation of calendar from Outlook, pictures, and ring tones. No manual accompanies the cable and CD; worse, "runtime error 380" pops up and crashes installation right out of the gate. Clues would be appreciated. The cable charges the phone just dandy, btw. But I want to control pics and ringers. Help! Thanks. BTW, RPI is slow to fill their orders on this equipment--took me a month to get it.
