Max capacity for S66...?

I just recently got a Siemens S66 for free through a new Cingular activation and was just wondering what is the max capacity the card can support. Is it only 32MB because its an RS-MMC?

Is there a Firmware Update for S66

Hi,
I have a Siemens S66 and it has many bugs. From cingular ofcourse. It freezes, turns it self off, has many bugs in the web browser, and many in the internet connectivity framework period. Is there a Firmware update for this phone at all? Siemens website only has an update for S65, i searched thru those firmwares, but there is no variant that is close to this one. I have the cable and all, just need a firmware image. Could anyone help me?

Shaky connection or bad earpiece?

I got my S66 about two months ago, and have noticed that quite frequently during a call everything will go silent and I will miss what the other person is saying on the other end for about 7 or 8 seconds, but will NOT drop the call. The reception strength doesn't vary, nor is there any static or anything. Has anyone else had an issue like this before? Is it more likely that it is the phone or Cingular's service? Thanks for any comments or help.

S66 vs 6230 - owners please comment

Hey Guys..

I've been following this website and forums for a while now.. I moved to GSM from AT&T and got my 6230 yesterday. I was really interested in getting the Seimens S66, but it was way more expensive at the time. I paid a total of $90 for 6230. As I wanted to keep my number, I had to get it from Cingular instead of the -$50 price tag from Amazon..

I found this phone to be a definite player in the market right now with a lot of great things going for it. Let me objectify my findings:
Pros --
- Bluetooth
- Great Menu
- Small and Light
- A LOT of features
- 32MB card included

Cons --
- Found the service to be worse than AT&T digital (get only 1 bar at home.. b4 got 5)

- Have to buy accessories at an extra price.. read ...

eBook reader for S66

Ever look for a way to use ebooks and documents on the S66? I discoverd MicroReader last night which reads text files and Palm Doc files. Among it's features is screen rotation, background/text color change, font selection, and auto-scroll. Oh, you can also keep your eBooks on the expansion card. The app is free and can be found at http://home.c2i.net/thvoslef/midlets/
The version supporting screen rotation is 1.4z, and is only for the S66.

I already have a collection of eBooks for my Palm, so this works out great for me. The Palm can convert most MS Word documents on the fly, then beam or send them to the phone. Just though I'd mention it.

This is sooo boring!

Every phone from Siemens looks the same! How can anyone think this is sexy?? It's boring. I'll admit that it has some great features but I've never known Siemens to put out a real quality phone. Many people I've sold Siemens to come back with complaints. This design is soo overdone.

please help me on Speed dial !

I just switched from siemens s56 to s66. I assumed that I wouold be able to to the speed dial the same way in this phone. But apparently not. I want to set the number keys to be phone numbers instead of the presetted ones which are games and other BS I don't even use. I read the manual and it says to press the number and then press options and under options press CHANGE then select the phone nunmber you want. But there is no CHANGE button. there is only MARK TXT. this is soooo annoying all I want is to set phone numbers to the number 2-9. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I'm starting to really hate this phone. It sucks badly. I really hate having to dial the whole number or looking for it. becuse there are only about 5 people that I...

FirmWare Update?

I just got mine yesterday.. I absolutely love this phone 🙂
Siemens offers software on their site to enhance functionality of the phone by adding the ability to connect it to a computer to perform all kinds of tasks. The software is called Mobile Phone Manager. And then there's Float's Mobile Agent.. which is excellent free software for using phones with your computer. It can do wonders, it truly is like magic, as its website says. Google it if it sounds interesting to you. Anyway..
I don't have a data-cable for this phone, and I'd like to perform a firmware upgrade. I'm not even sure if I have the latest firmware. Is there any way to perform a firmware update using a BlueTooth connection to my PC? Or does it HAVE to be a data cable?

Toggle button

Hi all,

Sometime I find the toggle button (the center button) doesn't work when I press in (as enter) so i would need to press harder in order for it to work! Unlike my previous SonyEricsson or Nokia where only a little touch would work.

Is this common in Siemens S66 or my phone is defictive?

Thanks,
Drac 🙂

Camera quality issue

Has anyone had any issue with pictures taken with the camera? I've only had the phone about a week and haven't taken many pictures yet, but I've noticed on the pic's I've taken there is a color defect at the corners (premium quality and high; haven't tried the lower quality settings yet), where the color appears to have a green tint at each corner.

noob with q's

I am desperately serching for a new phone and trying to narrow down the search. I have a few questions: I have heard that the screen on this phone is somewhat dark...any truth to that? and also is the phone limited to a 32mb mem stick or can a 120 or 250 or 512....work with the phone. Thanks and great site!

MP3 ringtones?

Hi,

I decided to buy this phone for my first cellphone, mostly because of the 1MP camera. It looks pretty good and has gotten good reviews, and has the things I need (bluetooth most importantly). It's also very "me". Anyways, I was wondering if its possible to have your own MP3s or another music file to play as your ringtone? I know that the phone has no MP3 support, but still. I just want to check. Thanks! 🙂

Phones you'll see at the movies.

This is the phone that Brad Pitt's character uses in the movie "Ocean's Twelve." Danny Ocean uses the SL 65/66. Most of the phones featured are Siemens phones. Keep your eyes peeled and you will see.

Quad band or not?

Phonescoop reports that the phone is tri-band but Cingular's website lists the phone as quad-band. Which one is right?
