Until it's in InfoManager...

Until the date for the VX8000 is in InfoManager,
it's anyone's guess as to when it will be out.
The VX7000 came out in July, V710 in August,
and CDM9900 next month on Sept 7.
I agree that it will probably come out this
year, but Verizon usually has the date/price on
InfoManager 2-3 weeks before it comes out.

Release coming soon?

While I was returning my Moto V710 today after the 15 day trial, I saw a VZ labeled car charger listing that it was for both VX7000 and VX8000 phones. I would think this is a good indication that the release date is soon, as others have noted.

No ringer ID

I always liked getting my phone to ring differently for specific callers. I can't believe LG would drop this function.

Only Reasons

The only reason that I do not want this phone over a v710 is first the lack of TransFlash cards. Secondly it does not support bluetooth and finally the fact that it is not a tri-mode phone. Trimode is actually the main reason. Other than that I'm sure this phones camera will be much better than the v710s which currently is pretty crappy besides outdoor daylight pics. But the v710 has the other features that are more key for me. Camera comes last.

I'm patiently waiting

compared to the v710 this phone will be a winner. i have 6 months to upgrade my phone and this is the one i want. If this one doesn't come out i will get the 7000. LGs are the way to go. Just say No to Moto! 😁

Disco Lights

I went to the VZW store today and when I shut off the VX7000, the flash lit up different colors like a disco light. I found this very cool. Does anyone know if this phone supports this feature?

Internal Memory?

I know the question has been posed already, but does anyone know how much memory this phone will contain? I'm concerned with mainly video storage and even more particularly, MP3s.

Now if only it supported flash chips 😕 ....

More stuff on the LG VX8000

ENGADGET.com:
"Verizon announced they would be launching their ‘fast-as-DSL’ CDMA 1xEV-DO network starting this summer, with plans to cover the country by 2005. Now we know Verizon will be actually offering phones for the new data network, rather than forcing us to use a wireless card in our laptop to enjoy the benefits of those high-speed connections. As usual, the FCC leaked the news, approving the first 1xEV-DO phone for use in the States: the LG VX8000. It’s a clamshell with a 1.2 MP camera and added support for video and 3D graphics. However, like all American CDMA phones, it’s missing Bluetooth, so you’ll need a cable to hook it up to your PDA or laptop (and you’ll be lucky if Verizon doesn’t specifically prohibit you from doing even ...

Manual says camera is cmos not ccd.

I was just wondering why the manual says the vx8000 has a 1.3 M Pixel c-mos sensor not ccd.
(Manual link can be found on info page)
It also shows a similar rotating camera design like the 7000.

Does the VX6000 cable work with the VX8000 or no?

MP3 ringtones

Does this thing support MP3 Ringtones. If it does, I'm sold. The Motorola V710 is getting horrible reviews because it's so cheaply built and the bluetooth is crippled. I dont want to waste my money on that.

V710 or VX8000

I have a Moto V60, which has lasted me over 2 years. It is time to exercise my new every 2. I was going to get the VX-7000 when it came out. I then decided to wait for the V710 for bluetooth. I am very happy that I didn't get the V710. I have heard nothing but bad things. The rep at the VZW store said that if my phone is still working now (which it is) then I should wait for the VX8000. It has been said that good things come to those who wait. Let's see if it's true in this case. I was told that it would be out around Christmas.

Release Date

I work for Verizon and on July 13th I went to a little convention type deal. I got to play with the Motorola V710 before it was released. The bluetooth capabilities on this phone are just awesome. Anyway the tech guy who works for Verizon and deals with all of the "Tech" related issues like the new 1X-EVDO, IX, and all of the equipment said the VX8000 is slated to be released 4th quarter 2004. Does any body else have some "insider" information that they can back this up, not just info they got off of the internet or from a friend. I just bought the VX7000 which is an awesome phone and I also saw the pictures that were supposedly taken with the 8000 and if the picture quality is that good then I will ditch my 7000 in a heart beat.

Call screening?

I really like the sound of this feature.

Does the 8000 or any other phone coming out have call screening? I love the idea of being able to listen to someone leaving me a message and answering in the middle of it if i want to. I also like how I could check my messages without doing the password thingy.
