Voice-call sound quality issue

RE: "...voices were distinctly more muffled in the Verizon Edge compared to the Sprint Edge. I conducted a number of side-by-side tests and the Sprint model totally outperformed the Verizon model in this key feature. Those I spoke to through the Verizon Edge said I sounded OK, but not great."

It's really sad when our $150 Motorola Nextel phones from 10-15 years ago had superior microphone, earpiece & speakerphone performance than today's $600 "phones". Really, they should stop calling them "phones" and call them what they really are, "mobile handheld computers with limited voice call capability".

I'm no fan of Sprint, but kudos to Sprint for making audio quality a priority for the voice-call part of the phone, and shame on Verizon for ...

IF

If Samsung seals in the battery and removes the SD card on the Note 5, I'll be looking to LG for my next device.

Disappointed.

---"Some may be put off by the locked-in battery and lack of memory card, but these are acceptable trade-offs to me to gain such an attractive phone."---

Do people not hear what they're saying when comments are made like this?

So being pretty is more important than having flexibility and control over your own device?

It's bad enough we have had to deal with locked down handsets where jailbreaking and rooting has to be performed in order to get the most out of a phone you pay good money for. Now we have to deal with even more control from the industry by just accepting the the notion to eliminate key components?

Samsung creates an ad to promote the new phones and widely distrubutes these ads in mass social media sites. The negat...

LG G4

On its way. It kinda makes all my worries moot.

Edge case

I wonder how they could design cases for this phone where the edges would still be exposed.

Might look enticing but just remember...

it's a LEASE. That means that you don't get to keep (or sell) the phone at the end of the lease.

Beware. No support for GSM or UMTS

on the US Cellular variant meaning a low resale value. This compared to say unlocked AT&T or T-Mobile variants which can work on either of those two carriers, or the Sprint variant which unlocked also supports T-Mobile or AT&T (first time this is possible with a Sprint Samsung handset).

the only way sprint is allowing someone to get one of these devices is through a contract or leasing it and if they pay full price theyre technically with Boost Mobile?

Ugh....

No removable battery or SD card SUCKS. If they seal the battery on the Note 5, I'm ditching Samsung and going back to an iPhone. The removable battery and memory cards were what made them appeal to many people and was one reason I put up with Touch wiz for so long. Take away these and I might as well get an iPhone or a stock Android phone. At least Apple has it together software and design wise.

C'mon Sammy! Revised model?

No micro SD card is an absolute deal breaker. A move like this most definitely pushes me away. Hopefully, a revised model is in the works.

I don't keep any sensitive/personal data/media on my internal storage. All pictures, videos, and documents are kept externally. If I were to ever damage my device to the point of needing a replacement, it's a must that I'm able to pull the micro Sd card. It just gives me piece of mind.

I don't really mind a sealed battery. If it's as good as the cells Samsung normally chooses, I can live with it. The Note 4 has great battery life, so I imagine that the S6/Note 5 will be no different considering how power efficient the Exynos 7420 chipset is at 14nm architecture.

I've been using a Galaxy Note 3 si...

Memory card and removable battery

So did they take out the removable battery and memory card slot. Those reasons are why I stayed with Samsung. They were the only ones that still did memory card slots and removable batteries.

Is anyone surprised they're back to copying the iPhone?

I guess it's a an improvement, but this phone looks like a mishmash of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 4, which I guess is better than the turd-ugly Galaxy S3, S4, and especially the insanely ugly S5. But yeesh- Samsung just can't seem to find an industrial designer to, you know, figure out something more original for the speaker grille, frame, or edges?

Too bad that TouchWiz is still a thing.

Only one flaw

The only flaw that I see is the petruding camera lens on back, why would Samsung not make this flush with the back of the phone, looks so old school..

Nice!

Wow, the Samsung design absolutely crushes the iPhone in the side by side photos. Way to go Sammy!

So real question - are they morons?

You're competing with Apple for one, and Google for 2. Do you honestly think ALL merchants of significance are going to adopt all 3? Let alone the end user using your actual device?

You already run Android - and actively work with Google - just partner up and try to take on the big gun (Apple Pay) instead of branching off on your own like American Express did (tried and failed miserably after some horrendous marketing of their mobile wallet called "ISIS" lol!)
