Motorola V180 / V186 / V188

So I just got my Motorola v180. Phone seems pretty cool & it meets my wireless needs. Does anyone know if you can download mp3 ringtones, wallpaper, etc from the internet without using the browser on the phone. I would like to download ringtones & wallpaper from websites other than Cingular...(who is now my wireless carrier).

when I'm using my phone, key lights suddenly shuts down and after a while they turn on again. is it factory mistake or something else?

Does anyone know when the v186 is coming out for Cingular? I really want a non-camera EDGE phone.

can I read pop3 based email on my moto v180

Just got mine MA8870 handset manager data transfer suite for v180...this data data suite surprise me very much! Not only I can manage my phonebook data, but also sending text messages, sync with calendar,composer melody and images, upload and download images, plus transfer files and many many more! If you own a V180, this is the data kit you must have. It is not expensive, only US$ 30 plus tax... I love this excellent kit!!

i got a motorola v180 and charged it overnite. the next day it showed a full charge, however, when trying to use the phone, the screen constantly goes blank for a few seconds and drops whatever i was doing. has anyone had this happen? i tried removing & putting back the sim card & battery but it keeps happening. i put the sim card into my old phone and it works fine. i'd love to avoid the hassle of taking it to a store and having to wait for it to be fixed or returned, if anyone has any suggestions i'd appreciate it!!

how can I insert ringtones or multimedia files, other than the defaulted selections, along with a text message.

I work for a wireless company and there was a post today on our website about T-Mobile discontinueing the V180 (we get CF62's back instead 😕 ). Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.

I am on my third V180 (in the last week). The first two had defects. But all three have been limited to five voice activated dialing entries. How many voice activated calling entries should I be able to set up? I called Motorola and at first was told that it was limited only by memory, should be "20 to 40 or more". Yet I can do only five, can add the sixth but it is erased after the phone is turned on/off. Consistently. The report on available memory says I have nearly all memory free. I am storing these to the phone, not the SIM chip. Please help ASAP, 5 entries will just not cut it. Are others seeing this limitation? Or do we just have a bad batch of phones in NC?

Just got this phone today. Is there a way to save phone numbers in your SIM card and also the address book without deleting one or the other??

On the box of my v180 the external display has a black backgound with light blue text. On my phone it is switched with a light background and dark text. Is there anyway to fix this?

Hello everyone

I have just activated my Wap option which is working using the existing GPRS-10 as I understood. The GPRS indicator appears now on my cellphone screen. What does this mean? Does it mean that I currently have an internet connection opened (somewhere in the background maybe which would be bad ☹️ ) or does it mean that GPRS is activated and can be used anytime? The phones book says: "The GPRS indicator showes that the cellphone is using a high speed connection in the GPRS network". I don't know how to interpret this...

Hows the Reception?

When using Mobile Phone Tools to upload part of an MP3 to the V180, it gives me an error message: MP3 could not be uploaded, possibly due to wrong codec.

I get that same error message with every MP3 clip that I tried to upload to the phone.

I'm able to send pics to the phone without a problem. It's just the MP3s that are giving me a hassle. How can I fix it? 😕

I am thinking about getting this phone, overall would you recommend me getting it... I am debating between this, the samsung e316, and the moto v505, what have you heard about these?? Which is the best?? Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks

Anyone been having problems with the V-180 dropping calls after about 15 minutes? How about with the phone locking up?

Yeah, after seeing the front bezel of this phone, this is a gonna be a nightmare waiting to happen. They first started putting this black bezel on V600 and holy crap the number of problems with cracking and chipping plastic.

This is a huge problem waiting to happen Moto smell the roses...... 🙄 😈 😡

Hey, has anyone used the speaker phone with the
lid/cover closed?

I need this feature and it's hard to find out
which flip phones can do this. Some just hang up
when you close it.

Is there anywhere to get graphics & wallpaper without getting charged? Also how do I install them? Thanks!
