Motorola V180 / V186 / V188

I have a Motorola V188 with T-Mobile as my carrier. I've downloaded two MP3 ring tones from T-Mobile's website and they work fine. Recently I downloaded another MP3 ring tone from T-Mobile and my phone won't let me rename it, use it as my ring tone or anything other than listen to it really.

I don't think it's taking up too much memory, it's saved to my phone, but as a default number.

When I try to rename it, it jumps back to the multimedia menu, or freezes.

Anybody else have this problem, or have any advice, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if anybody has had any issues with the v180 calling people on it's own???? Any thoughts would be helpful....

what are the differnce from a V180 to a V188?
i have V180 that doesn't work well so t-mobile is sending me a V188 is there any difference in the phone any info would be help full

Hi, I have the motorola v186 and I was wondering if anybody can help me transfer files from my pc to phone. Using mobile Phonetools, I was able to transfer files fine from pc to v180. But it doesn't seem the same for the v186. Do I need a different driver or something? When I try to move mp3s of midi's over, it says unsupported format - conversion not possible. If anybody can help me that would be great.

Okay, I followed the directions on how to get the voice dial to work, but the final option of "voice dial" doesn't show up! I have service dial and something else, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to listen to my commands! This is the AT&T version. Any suggestions?

I've been using Nokia and am trying to decide between a Motorola V188 and Nokia 6101 as my next phone. Would appreciate any comments esp from ex-Nokia users as to how the brands (e.g. re phone book)compare. I am in HK so comments on coverage wouldn't apply to me. Thanks.

I purchased a JABRA Earboom headset with an answer/hang up button on the end of the boom. Can someone tell me the settings to use on the V180 to enable this function?

Is there a way that you can put a security lock on your recent dialed/received calls list? How about on your messages? I can put a lock on almost everything else on this phone, but these are the ones I most want kept private! Any tips?

i just received this phone and love it. i am wondering if any of you have tried linking the v180 with a pc. the idea of composing my own mp3 ringtones sounds cool but i dont want to spend thirty dollars for the usb cable and software from motorola just to have it not work. and information or insight would be appreciated. thanks.

Anyone had any luck with this? I tried just selecting the 180 and it kept saying initialized. Sometimes it says "Hardware Failed" or something to that effect.

What can I do?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me why the Motorola V180, when downloading songs on the Cingular site, will download quite a bit of the song and the LG L1400 only downloads about a 1/3 of what the V180 does.

I just got a V188 and have connected it to my PC. I have installed the driver as directed in a previous thread, and installed Mobile PhoneTools. The problem comes when I try to tell it which phone I have. Mobile PhoneTools doesn't even give me the choice of the v180, much less the newer v188.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to change the company banner so the phone dos not say Cingular anymore??? I used to know of a Code somethign like.

i have this new motorola v180 and i can't see to be able to trasfer mp3s to the phone...i'm using mobile phone tool to reconize the phone and windows reconizes the phone via the USB cable...but the mulitmedia center in mobile phone tools won't give me a audio folder to drop the music file in the phone...any suggestions??

I have a Cingular V180 and a Virgin Mobile SIM card I'm planning to use while in the UK this summer. Rumor has it I can simply travel to the UK, switch the Cingular SIM card with the Virgin one, and go from there without needing an unlock code. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I just got a Motorola V180 on Cingular, I am replacing a Siemens A56 phone (ATT). Since I got new SIM Card, how can I transfer my Phonebook from the old to the new without rekeying every entry?

After I sync'ed my V180 using MPT 3.19e the time will not maintain the current time. The phone will be correct time for about 20 minutes then it is 5 hours slow. I re-set the phone and 20 minutes later it is 5 hours slow. 😲 I think it must be a software issue but I don't know how to solve it. Any help would be appreciated.
