Motorola A630

I heard from a friend, lets call him "Peter Pan", that the Motorola A630 would be released on the same day that the child support payments started coming in to Cinderella from the guy who "slipped the glass slipper" on her. Course PP also smoked some icky sticky and told the "Three Blind Mice" he could fly like all the other good NBA boys and girls and jumped out the third story window of my Apt. Biotch fly's like a solid gold brick tied to a cinder block! He's in traction now telling me about some damn cell phone thas about to drop.....

Moral: When does the fairytale end and Cingular release the damn phone?!?! There are more threads about this phone than almost any other on this site!

anyone have any ideas or any knowledge?? maybe false canceling the account at t-mobile to make it lower? anyone try this yet?

Can anyone recommend the best process to take a standard digital sound file (mp3, wav, etc.), convert it into a ringtone format file, and then move it into one's phone for use as a ringtone?

I miss my Sony Ericsson... This Motorola doesn't seem to be well thought out.

1) There's no autolocking of the external keypad. You have to manually lock it by pressing down-star every time you put it in your pocket. That's annoying!

2) No recurring alarms. Each time the alarm goes off, you have the option of snooze or disable. If you disable, it won't ring again until you enable it again. Menu-diving stinks. It should have recurrent options.

3) No "notepad" feature to make a to-do list for yourself.

4) Voice recorder doesn't play on speakerphone. To control it you have to open the clamshell, but to hear it you have to close it... back and forth.. what the heck were they thinking? Did they test it?

5) No ringer profiles....

Is anyone else annoyed by this?

If I receive a new voicemail, and after listening to it and deleting it during the phone call, the 'new message' indicator icon _still appears_ on the phone's external display screen.

This will not go away until I open up the phone, go to the message list, and 'read' that I have a new voicemail.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Does anyone know the best way I can transfer my photos to my PC? Do I need to buy a bluetooth card for my PC?

Or, can I simply buy some kind of connection chord for the transfers?

i am a t-mo customer but i really REALLY want the a630 in the gray color - not the light blue one that is being offered by t-mo and other online distributors.

does anyone know how/where i can get my hands a new gray a630???

if i purchase this phone from t-mobile and have it unlocked will cingulars apps work on it (media net/media mall)? i can't wait any longer on cingular.

i currently have at&t. i originally heard cingular was gonna get this phone, now im hearing different. I see t-mobile has it. Anyone know where I can get this phone unlocked at a reasonable rate (not $400)??

I'm heading overseas in a couple days and would like to use my phone while travelling. I haven't been on my contract long enough to get the unlock code just yet. Does anyone know any other ways to unlock my phone?

I wish this phone had EDGE capabilities.

I could not wait for this phone...I switched from Blackberry thinking this was the perfect set up. For my uses, I was wrong.

THE GOOD>

1. Great size and gadget appeal. A comforatable to hold and small, cool lookigng gadget.

2. Clamshell design with keyboard is great.

3. All the features you would want.

THE BAD:

1. The software is sluggish and complex.

2. If you email tons like I do, the keyboard is not reponsive enough to really fly on it. Combined with slow software, I would just skip emailing from it and wait till I got to my computer.

3. I could not get contact addresses into the phone. I dont think it is possible.

4. Motorola sync software is tedious.

This phone is a great phone if you like IM and occasio...

😢 I am an agent for cingular and today we got a new price sheet and the a630 was not on it. I dont know if this means that Cingular has pushed back the date even further or if they are not going to have it at all because the phone was on our previous price sheets but were showing as not available yet.

My A630 is unlocked and the voice function works fine on AT&T network. I just can't connect to do any browsing or downloading rington from AT&T? Has anyone experience similar problems??

I call AT&T - and they blame it's the phone that's not compatible with their network. "It's data locked"

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

How do I retrieve a call I left on hold once I hang up on the other call? It was much easier on my SE T610.
