Meh

Yeah have fun with it. 🙄 Froyo 2.2 pretty much crapped my Moto Droid. Matter of fact, it made it suck so much I deactivated mine. I use a regular flip phone now. When I get enough money I'm switching and getting an iPhone.

Be ready for:

-More force closings
-Sluggish speed
-YouTube glitches
-Data not connecting
-Pinch zoom loosing quality
-Battery drains faster
-Home screen having to load after exiting an app
-Flash 10.1 which means more load time for websites due to Flash advertisements.

For those who's seen my past posts will know I was Android "fanboy" but this is the experience I've had with mine and I couldn't take it anymore. I'm back to using a dumbphone and using my iPod Touch for all my smartphone needs. ...

List of Improvements

So I can't find a Qrg anywhere. The only way I knew about the upgrade was from Phonescoop and other sites I won't mention. So far here is what I've noticed:

-Ability to move Apps to SD card

-Browser seems quicker

-Different Battery Profiles

-Ability to turn screen 270 degrees

-I'm not sure if Flash 10.1 was part of the update or if I need to d/l it from marketplace (hopefully someone knows)

-gmail enhancements

-google search bar is slightly different

-lock/silence has a different look and is now lock/vibrate from the looks of it

-smoother window switching when swiping

-added VZ Navigator and Quickoffice

-I'm sure the standard security enhancement were made as well.. I haven't checked and don't really care

Car Doc Question

I just bought the car doc, but haven't installed it yet. It occurred to me that since the base is being glued to either the dash board or the window that when it comes time to remove it, there might be residue that is impossible to remove. My car is leased and when the lease is up and I return it, I want to be sure I can remove the doc without leaving anything behind (since leasing companies love to charge for any blemish). Has anyone had any experience with removing the car doc? Is it completely removable? Is it better on the windshield or the dash? Thanks.

Applications that Freeze the Droid?

I just got my Droid X and downloaded a number of applications like the ones I had on my original Droid. I avoided the app killer application since that kept freezing my Droid, but I am seeing that the freeze is happening again and I have to remove the battery and reboot to get the X going again. I was wondering if anyone has found apps that freeze their Droid X and had to be removed. Perhaps we downloaded the same ones.

Gallery scroll crash

As I scroll through my pic gallery (vertical tile layout), after a few swipes, the screen goes black and goes back to the gallery menu.

When I do the same but using the horizontal view, no problem.

Thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

Launcher Pro crashes my Droid X

I installed Launcher Pro, but it only runs for about 10 minutes before my phone freezes and I have to do a battery pull. Do I have something set wrong?

Screenshot

This probably isn't an X specific question, but does anyone know of a way to take screenshots on the phone like you can on iPhones/iPod Touches? Is there anything built into the phone to allow you to do this (like the iPhones two button combo thing) or an app? How would an app work for this too? Thank you for any help.

Droid X Apps & Holster

Hello,

I was hoping I could get some comments and thoughts. I just ordered my Droid X and should have it in about 2 wks. I know there are hundreds/thousands of apps. I was wondering if others could offer suggestions on the MUST HAVE apps. Also, how to get those or any apps. I believe it's from the Android Market. However, I don't know how to get to it or view what's available. Espically the free apps. Is it an app pre-installed or a website you access?

My other question is about protecting the phone. Does anyone use the holster that Verizon sells? Any comments or opinions good or bad. I have been going back and forth on whether to get the Carbon Fiber case (no belt clip) and carry in my pocket. Or go with the holster and have ...

Ringtone mixups

I have been having trouble with it recognizing the correct ringtone. It's always mixing up everyone's ringtones. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there something I can do to fix it? Would you recommend a ringtone app instead?

Thanks!

Steppin' Up!!

Morning fellow forum users,

I've stepped up (from a BB 9550 to the "DROID X")and I'm loving every "step". Goodbye RIM, you've just got "TORCHED". Ok ok, enough with the dry humor. I'm needing a lil help with this unit. I'm trying to figure out how to make my phone vibrate and play the tone when I recieve an alert (sms, mms & email). I'm sure you're well aware that there wasn't much in the box. Lol. So any advice, tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. I'll continue to read on to learn more about the device.

Thanks and have a super day,
J.Boogie

Text & Font Size Adjustability

Looking for help from experienced Droid users:

I've been looking at a couple Droids (droid 2 & X), since I have an upgrade available soon, and was wondering how adjustable the fonts/text items are (as far as size goes) on the Droid X.

I have a visual impairment and always look for a phone that at least lets me adjust the font size of texts & emails. Of course menus matter too, but it's the messaging that matters most to me.

Having not owned an Android phone, I'm assuming that there's at least some adjustability native to the OS. I'm also hopeful that whatever isn't available natively can be handled with an app.

Can someone help me get a clue regarding this area of functionality?

Thanks in advance!

(I'm also posting this sa...

Got the Droid X... have a few questions

I got the Droid X last week, and my wife got the HTC Incredible. Both are good phones, but in all honesty, the Incredible seems faster, smoother, and the overall interface seems a bit more user-friendly. I was under the impression that the X was supposed to be the best phone Verizon has ever unleashed. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. However, I don't understand why such a powerful phone is that "jittery" when swiping from one screen to another. Keep in mind, I just switched over from an iPhone 3GS.

Does anyone know of a way to make it less "jittery"? Also, when it updates to Android 2.2, what all is expected to change?

Thanks in advance.

VIDEO: My Thoughts on the Seidio Innocase Surface for Droid X

Hello All,

Before I get my Droid X I used to be a BlackBerry user, and I created several popular videos giving my thoughts on accessories (as well as tips and tricks; I created the "Paper Strip Method" video for cleaning the trackball). I do this so that people can make informed and insightful buying decisions.

Well, I'm back now with my new phone - the Motorola Droid X - and have just completed a video taking a look at the Seidio Innocase Surface. You can check it out a the link below. Expect more videos in the future!

Screen & Case

Hi Everyone,
After reading almost every post in this forum I think my decision is made on the X. I do have some basic questions I am hoping other will offer comments and opinions on.

My first reaction when seeing the phone was. It's like carrying my laptop around. That based on the size of the device. I fully understand why the big screen is an advantage and more a pro than a con. But has anyone with the phone said. This is crazy and too big in comparison to others like Droid2 or Incredible? For example I am coming from a Dare.

My next question is about carrying the phone. At the risk of sounding like a total nerd. I currently carry my Dare on my belt. Yes, I know they have belt cases & holsters for the X. But is it really possib...
