Help me make a decision

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking for a while on the forums trying to learn some things, and I have to thank you for what I've learned.

I want to switch to a bluetooth enabled phone to work with my Palm Tungsten T and a Wireless Headset when my current Alltel contract expires.

I like the V600 and also the specs on the "soon to be released" V710. What I need to do is decide which way to go.

What are the pros and cons of GSM(V600) and CDMA(V10)?

And what are the relative good and bad points between AT&T/Cingular (V600) and Verizon (V710)

I'm really torn between the two, but aren't sure if one or the other will be a mistake for me.

Help? Thanks!!!

Little Pic of Phone with 1 Next to It on Screen

This can be turned off, but you need a USB cable.

I've done it to both V600s I have.

comparison question

Hi guys, this is my first post so I'll start by sayin hello!!

I have a question. I have a Motorola v60i (CDMA with ALLTEL) and since I moved I'm not too happy with it.

I seem to be in an area dominated by Cingular and my v60's actin up like never before...droppin calls if I take a step, gettin all staticky, makin funny noises with the external speaker, etc. I've been seriously considering switchin to Cingular for better reception and nationwide coverage...not to mention rollover, but I don't wanna spend the $$ on the v600 if it's crap. What I want to know is how the v600 is gonna stack up to my v60 as far as general use goes...I already know about all the nifty features like bluetooth (in fact I've got a jabra headset I'm dyin to ...

Anyone? More powerful antenna for v600?

Looking for a more powerful antenna for this thing. Live in Manhattan, work in Manhattan. Downtown (chelsea) where I live and everywhere else reception and call quality is AWESOME! Where I work (midtown, park avenue) on a high floor (above 40) I am lucky if the phone will even ring at my desk, let alone 'answer' a call.

Spoke with ATT about it and they reprogrammed my SIM card which has made the problem a little less annoying (the phone rings at my desk where it previously did not). But it still floats between "AT&T Wireless" and "Emergency Only" to 'No Service" throughout the day. I am inclined to think it may be the antenna as I've tried everything else.

I've been seeing these gold-plated stub things and am wondering if anyone here ...

Carriers for the V600.

Last weekend, I purchased the V600 - AT&T.
I bought the AT&T cell plan since it fits my usage on the phone side.

However on the internet browsing side.....
They want 80.00 a month for unlimited internet access. Cingular wants 20.00. Something is wrong. Can someone please advise?

I suspect I am comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks.

V600 and Motorola hs810 headset

I have a motorola v600 branded by Cingular that I purched the first day it was availiable in my market (April 1st). Yesterday, I decided to purchase the Motorola hs810 bluetooth headset. Let me tell you that I love it to death! I only paid $30 for it as I have a freind at Best Buy who hooked me up. Even though they retail for $99 at most stores, I still think it is a solid value. Even though I am cheap. My 2000 Ford Ranger is not bluetooth compiant so I have not tested it in an automobile. Here are the pros and cons

Pros:
light weight
EXCELLENT sound quality
was able to travel past the "30 feet" that is quoted as the range on the headset
easy to pair to the phone
Very comfortable
left or right ear compatible
cost compared to the hs...

V600 crashing?

Hey there,

My V600 seems a bit weird, and im wondering if theres a fix available as if not ive gotta send it off for 10 days +, and it'd be very difficult with my job to be without a phone.

Firstly it seems very temperamental when answering calls, sometimes it'll just have a blank screen on opening the flip, and no keys will work, likened to a computer "stalling" when processing a large file. After a few seconds it will restore, but by then the caller has normally hung up. This problem seems worse if i use an MP3 ringtone.

However whenever i test this (at the shop or showing a friend) it works fine FIRST time.

Has anyone had this issue? It seems to be better answering landline calls opposed to mobiles.

Hope someone can give ...

more questions from the duke

Me again, with more questions:

1) I've been seeing all sorts of stuff on ringtones. What do I need to buy in order to shorten some of the mp3's on my computer and send them onto my phone without having to pay per tone? (Also, where can I get this device)

2) Is this phone capable of recording a video at all? All I know is how to take pictures but I'm wondering if I can film a video for a few seconds. If anyone knows how to do this (if it's possible), then please let me know.

Thanks a bunch.

Syncing with Outlook

I have just purchased a V600. I was told that this phone will sync w/Outlook which was my primary reason for buying it. I now realize that I'll need a cable or Bluetooth adapter to accomplish this. My question is: What can and can't the phone do w/Outlook? Can I have tasks? Will I have appointments? What about the contacts?

Thanks.

Should I V400 or V600?

As I look at the phones, bluetooth is the major difference between the two phones. And while I do have a bluetooth computer, I'm not sure what the advantages are of syncing the phone and the computer. Are there any? And can anyone tell me how to send an mp3 from computer to phone without buying any software?

(The two sync without buying the USB connection).

Thanks.

New V600 user (first impressions)

Decided to not wait for T-Mobile. Went to Cingular. Bought one (they're all unlocked) plus a $25 pay-as-you-go SIM (which freed me from having to establish an account there) and then popped my T-Mobile SIM in. Found instructions on HowardsForum for setting up SMS and WAP and, voila, it's working well. My car has bluetooth so I was anxious to try that feature out. It works well, though I suspect that feature sucks power big time.

Impressions of the V600 after 3 days: I like it. It seems like a well made Motorola, though the back case does not fit as snugly against the top on the side with the antenna as I'd like.

User interface is fair, not amazing. Responsiveness is pretty good. Screen quality is excellent. Speaker phone capabilities q...

ringtone question for anyone

Well, I finally got my v600 a few days ago and so far I don't have any technical problems. It's a cingular marked phone and all the wallpapers are pretty gay. So I'm wondering if anybody here knows where I can get free ringtones and how I access them (and if that part is free too). Same thing goes for wallpapers, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
