After 8 months of using the phone

I cannot believe how disappointed I am with this phone. Back in spring, I posted a shiny review of this phone and gave it 4.5 or 5 stars. I would give it 1 or even now.

I am responsible for mobile computing in my company and after getting a demo unit from Verizon back in April, I recommended the phone to all of our executives.

2 months went by, and all of a sudden, phones started to have wierd problems - like crash often, loose connection to the network for a few minutes or a few hours, and generally be very sensitive. After another month, the behavior was so unbearable, that all of our executives gave back the phone (more like threw the phone at me). I would think them crazy if I wasn't having similar problems.

A few weeks ago...

Need to move files without syncing

I hope there is an easy fix here.
I lost the ability to sync my phone with my laptop. I was able however to copy the directory with the address and calender folders in it.
I installed the desktop software on a new computer and went to simply move the old folders onto the new computer's directory to overwrite the ones that had no data entered into them yet.
When I launched the Palm desktop and when to the address book...no entries.
I know there has to be a way to get this to work without me having to re-enter everything.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Voice tag file backup

🙂

Hi all...

I have been using this phone for years and love it; I have one pet peeve, and that is the voice tag file management. I have been told repeatedly by tech support that these files are not backed up on your PC, and that if your phone loses power completely, these files are lost and you have to re-train them. This has happened to me one too many times.

However, a glimmer of hope: the last time I called tech support for an unrelated issued, the tech told me he had seen a hack on the web soemwhere that backed up these files. Google is turning up nothing. Has anyone seen such a backup utility out there?

Thanks in advance!

Kyocera 7135 "the next generation" will there be?

I've had my 7135 for over 2 years now and it's very functional but is becoming dated, although it is still the best out there. Does anybody have a clue when the new one is being released or if it is? I don't want to give this thing up even with its shortcomings, (i.e. 33mhz slow Dragon Ball, sometimes difficult dialing key pad, mediocre screen resolution, no built in camera, oh yeah one more thing Palm's Graffiti 2 kinda sux my original came with Graffiti 1) albeit I can't wait until a next generation of this device is released. This is my 3rd device (warranted through Verizon). When will Kyocera come out with the next generation of this phone?

Can't hear through earpiece on phone

Has anyone had this problem? I just got my 7135 and have been checking it out. Called Verizon. They were helpful. Tried a soft reset. Did not work. Removed and Replaced battery and I could hear through the ear piece.
This only lasting for a while. I tried the battery R&R again and it has not worked.
Have read reviews about battery charging.
This has me worried about this phone.
The speaker phone works. Not the ear piece.

Mod Lists

Hello There

I am a Kyocera 7135 User

I really like the way this phone works and it is perfect for my business

But, the phone is not FCC 911 Compliant, as so I cannot activate the phone any longer as of right now

I would like to activate a new phone, but the people at verizon know the phone model based on the ESN number

So, i wanna buy a new card for the phone that has never been used or is not even traceable so that I will be able to activate the phone

Can anyone here help me with this

I would love to activate another 7135

Thanks

Anthony

KYOCERA 7135 in the UK

Dear members
I have just discovered this phone and it looks great. However, I live in the UK and use Orange. Does anyone have any idea whether or not the phone would work on the Orange UK network please?

Thanks

How frusterating!

This is exactly what Phonescoop is perfect for.
This so looks like the perfect phone on paper.
It has every major feature I'm looking for.
Not only that, it's that ONLY phone in production that has every major feature I'm looking for.
But then you glance in the forums and there's the real measure of the phone.
It's a lemon.

Sigh.
With GSM phones, the number of phones with my wanted feature-list was taking days to go thru.
With Verizon phones, this one is about it!
And I thought I had rather mild requirements!

Verizon name overwrites mine

😲
On my 7135 the Verizon Wireless banner overwrites my name. Does anyone know how to turn it off? I left my old 6135 at an airport security checkpoint and they called me back 'cause my name was on the display. Now that won't happen.

How loud is speakerphone?

My wife's LG 4500 has a speakerphone so clear and loud, you can just throw it in the cupholder in the car and it's like a wireless handsfree kit! Is the 7135 that good?

Kyocera 7135 - Palm OS version

I've noticed that the current Palm OS version in the 7135 is 4.1. This is surprising to me because 5.x has been available for a while.

Has anyone successfully upgraded a phone to 5.x?
