Version 1 iPhone

I wonder if I activate an old iPhone today or before 3G comes out, do I pay the old data prices and will my data plan price increase after that?

Also, I am wondering if you will be able to activate old iPhone's thru iTunes after 7/11?

billing question

so this iphone 3g looks pretty awesome and im selling my ipod touch to buy one of these. i gotta few questions though...

first, im on a family plan right now as the secondary line (3 lines total). nobody else in the family has or is going to get an iphone. I saw that the cheapest data package doesnt include texting. we have unlimited messaging for families on our account. when i upgrade to the iphone 3g can i just get the basic data package and continue to benefit from the unlimited texting for families plan? or do i have to get an iphone 3g data package that has the unlimited messaging. its important that i retain the unlimited message for families because all of the lines on our account text like mad.

also im still in a contract with...

so what does this mean for 2G users.

Ive had the 2G since the day after i came out and im more than happy with my phone. being in the industry though, i know the benefit of moving to 3G. will 2G user apps and things of that nature slow down? will there be any incentive for 2G users to move to the 3G, thats an awful lot of money just to switch phones when i have a perfectly good 2G

3g network size

I have verizon and I was looking over vzw's high speed area compared to att's and I got to tell you att is weak. I'm not saying that to dis att or to brag but a 3g iphone doesn't really even make a difference when your 3g network is almost non existent. It will really only be cool for people in big cities!

Already on contract?

So what's the deal for those of us who already are on a contract and want to purchase this phone? I keep reading different things some saying that you just have to up your contract and pay the new prices and others say that you will have to pay a lot more than what they will be offered for? Any help is much appreciated! 😁

I want to switch from Windows Mobile

I currently have a Samsung i730 running WM5 that really pisses me off. Constant lock ups and corruptions. Since I have a Mac anyway, I figured I should look at the iPhone and with iPhone 2.0 software, I have to say I'm impressed. However, does anybody know know if/when the iPhone will get the following things:

-copy/paste
-FULL MS Office (like on my Windows Mobile phone)
-a file brower

Things Just Keep Getting Worse For The New Iphone

1st there was the announcement of increase in data fees, then data will no longer include SMS. Now Apple will not allow OTA music downloads as promised...

Source Engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/11/iphone-3g- details-firmware-2-0-on-june-27th-no-ota-musi c-downl/

Meanwhile, Apple's cash cow won't get those OTA iTunes music downloads that were being heavily speculated on in May. Word on the street is that record labels are -- wait for it -- still holding out for those upped premiums, or that AT&T wants a cut of the action, which Apple is reluctant to hand over. Of course, AT&T wanting their share of that revenue makes good sense when you realize that the telco is taking a major hit on the sale of these devices -- a hi

QUOTED............

Note: When the 3G device launches, all active postpaid customers in good standing with a 2G iPhone will be eligible to receive the qualified upgrade pricing for a 3G device regardless of service tenure. (Customers that would not otherwise be eligible due to tenure will be made eligible at launch).

BE MADE ELIGIBLE AT LAUNCH,IM GUESSING THAT MEANS REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOUR AT IN ANY CONTRACT WITH ANY PHONE ON JULY 11TH YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE AT 199 OR 299 AND SIGN ANOTHER 2 YEAR CONTRACT,ATLEAST THATS THE WAY I UNDERSTAND IT!!! WHAT DO YOUALL THINK?

200 SMS IS INCLUDED!!!!!

http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=1843 »

According to this site 200 sms txt messages is included in the "Voice Plan". This is a little confusing now. Does that mean when we sign a contract we also have get a new plan also stated in he link provided or do we just keep the existing plan and just pay $30 dollars extra a month and get the 200 txt messaging?

This is my remedy for the iphone upgrade issue..should work

there may be a work around to all of this upgrade discontentment. I have this idea that people who want the 3g iphone and currently have a non-iphone headset only have to activate a new sim card in a 2g phone and put the iphone data plan on their account. This will do two things.

1: Automatically update your contact when they reactivate with a 2G iphone
2: Automatically make them eligible to upgrade to the 3G iphone.

If i recall correctly the Iphone was the only handset that you can upgrade to without being the the contract "sweet spot" By using any iphone and upgrading your account you should be eligible to upgrade to the new 3G iphone with not issues. You should be able now to skip the soon to be unfavorable non commitment price w...
