I guess no one has done the math?????

Over the Life of a 2 year contract it will cost you (if you have 200 messages) $1054 for an iphone 3g, and $907 for a regular iphone. Thats only a difference of $147 or $6.12 a month....so basically that means all of you who are complaining about the higher cost need to SHUT UP and STOP WHINNING!!!!!!

Dumb of At&t to get rid of 200 texts with the plan

For $20 it was a great deal with the old iphone. It was their Sidekick plan. Data and some text. Now you have to pay $30 a month which is the same price that Verizon charges for all their smartphones/blackberries and you don't get any text messages. I think they should have kept it at a great deal and not conform it to what you get with other companies. I understand 3g and the $10 extra charge for that but they should have included text messages with it, maybe even more than 200, and kept it a great deal for a cool phone.

Some iphone 3G advice

There seems to be more people on the fence about the new iphone than those on either extreme about getting it or not getting it. In summary, yes, 30 dollars for unlimited data and no messages seems unfair, considering the old iphone plan gives you that and 1500 messages a month for the same price. To add insult to injury, the discounted price comes with strings attached (must be a brand new customer, current customer on an existing iphone plan, or current customer eligible for an end-of-contract upgrade). Otherwise, prepare to shell out 400-500 bucks. And if that weren't enough, they're going to charge an additional 18 dollar "upgrade fee" when you buy the phone. Why? Because they can, because they know people want this phone that badly that...

3G for both voice and data?

No one seems to have the answer on this... will the iPhone use AT&T's 3G network for both voice and data, or just data?

Here in Los Angeles, AT&T's voice network blows, and my friends who have iPhones complain of constantly dropped calls and lack of signal. But AT&T is touting almost full-market 3G coverage, so I'm wondering if that will help the voice coverage issues.

iPhone vs. LG Dare

I have been with Verizon for many, many years but find myself seriously wanting the iPhone 3G.

I added an extra line yesterday and got the LG Dare. I have 30 days to return it and owe nothing so I thought i would give it a chance.

When the iPhone is released i plan to get it and then have a hands on comparison. One negative is the iPhone has a 10% restocking fee if you decide to return it within your 30 day window! And for text (who the heck does not text?), iPhone is $10 for 200 minutes and the Dare is $5.00 for 250 minutes.

One thing i noticed right away on the Dare was the touch screen working VERY much better than the Voyager and others. Surely not as good as the iPhone but very usable.

One other thing i noticed was the ...

At the stores ONLY! Do not call ATT

Please remember that the iphone will only be available at a LOCAL STORES ONLY! You will not be able to call up att and purchase this phone at all for business or personal accounts so don't waste your time! Besides customer care and adding/removing features the sales departments will not have this phone available at all.

Rev A Vs. 3G

Has anyone even checked the coverage maps of AT&T 3 G coverage? It is crazy unless you live in a major city there is no benefit of getting the new iphone. I work for Sprint and I will admit that there is no phone that can match the flashy feature of the iphone, but check out the coverage. Sprint's Rev A network is not only faster it is more wide spread. Also as far as the instinct vs. the Iphone where is everyone getting their info that the speeds of the internet is faster on the iphone? 3g-1.5mbs peak vs.Rev a 3.1 mbs peak. I'm not trying to bash anything or anyone if i had extra money i would buy a ipod touch in a heart beat. But im tired of watching people getting on and saying things that aren't true.

iPhone Family Text Plan

So I was really thinking of picking up two iPhones for myself and the wife, but when I saw that there is really only one option (unlimited texts for $30) for the family plans, this made me pause. This does not seem right, especially given that a 200 message option and a 1500 message option appear to be available for the other AT&T family plans. 😕

Adobe "Flash" Player

Sorry, don't want to double post but was sure someone would take my other post as meaning camera flash..............

Was wondering if anyone knows if there is any phone out there that does use Adobe flash while surfing?

It really takes alot out of your web experience not having that IMO.

Switching back come july.

I gave up the original iPhone for a blackberry last month,
But after seeing the new and improved iPhone I'm deffiantly switching back come July.
Of course there's still things its lacking, (MMS, video recording,) and all the other obvious things a phone shoukd have-
But still to me these things arnt all that importaint.
Anyway. After having a iPhone and switching to the blackberry I can deffiantly say I miss my iPhone!
And with the new features, and low price point, I will be in line come July 11th.
People can ramble on about things the iphone lacks, but after you own one its hard to go back to anything else!

Just to clear up some misinformation

Just to clear up any confusion floating out there I work for AT&T and we have little more information than the general public about the iPhone release.

Provided at www.att.com/iphone

What will I pay for iPhone 3G?
If you are upgrade eligible and your account is in good standing, you will pay $199 for 8GB (black) and $299 for 16GB (black or white). Two-year contract required.

You have the option to purchase an early upgrade priced at $399 for 8GB (black) or $499 for 16GB (black or white). Two-year contract required. Coming soon, AT&T will offer a no-commitment option of $599 for 8GB and $699 for 16GB.

The "early upgrade" price is for those who do not qualify as "eligible" due to length of contract, payment history, non-pay sus...

iPhone Number

I bought the first generation iPhone in Houston but I'm home for the summer. Do you think they'll be able to just simply update my information rather than give me the same number or a number w/Houston area code so I don't have to dial 713 everytime I have to call someone in the same city?
