Why did they get rid of the Flash from theCameraPhone?

I have the LG VX 8300, and one of the things I really love about this phone is the camera.
The lens is fairly good. Yes, I need to stay very still if I want a really good shot, but I do use the flash quite a bit for fill in the the pictures.
I looked at the 8360, and the flash is gone.
I looked at most of the phones at the Verizon store, and almost all the camera phones no longer have a flash.
Why?? Very disappointing.

My View of the LG VX8350

Received my brand-spanking' new LG 8360 today via FedEx. This is the first time I ever bought a cell phone without holding it in my hands and "kicking the tires." So expect a few postings from me on this newest flip from LG--the jury is still out.

First let me give you a rundown of my experience (and love) of LG phones:

Nothing but nothing will ever match my LG VX- 8000. I had that baby for years - it was a workhorse. The 8000 had the BEST speakers that ever teamed-up on a cell phone. I miss it so much that I turn it on just to relive the great memories.

Next was the LG VX-8300. Great speakers and options that are the benchmark for todays flip phones. The 8300 is so good I will return to it if this 8360 does not live up to its ear...

A worthy replacement for the 8300!

I still have an 8300 activated on one of my lines, the phone is built like a tank compared to recent LG models. I don't know how many times it has been dropped the stairs, or chewed on and dropped by the kids. It still works perfect. The 8350 build quality was a big step down. The 8360 build quality is very close to that of the 8300.... and after using it for a few days anyone needing a good basic phone with a little thrills will be very satisfied with this phone.

Can you hear me now?

Okay, I started the "Compared to Motorola W755?" thread a couple weeks back. Whew! I truly appreciate all the enthusiastic comments. I have since had a chance to hold, but not to use, the VX8360. I would agree with some reports that the 8360 seems less well-built than the w755 (more plastic, less metal, less "heft").

I am glad to hear that the 8360's speakers and speakerphone are more akin to the old LG8300. I am wondering about the voice commands and voice recognition. The 8300 was about 50/50 in this category, but that was light years ago, software-wise. The Moto w755 does a pretty good job with all things voice. How about the LG VX-8360?

Got my 8360 last week!

Greetings to Tropicalisland and all!!

Thanks Tropicalisland (are you there?)....I finally got my 8360 last week. As you recall, I made the difficult decision to trade in my W755 which I really really liked, for the 8360 cause I needed an office quality, 2 way, full-duplex speakerphone. The speakerphone in the 8360 comes very, very, very close to my above expectations. Other than the speakerphone which trumps all other features for me, it's a close call between the W755 and the 8360. I like the form and casing of W755 better than the 8360, but the 8360's speakerphone button is much better co-located with the other buttons (not on side like the W755), the 8360's text messages can be viewed on front display with one-touch, and flip closed, i...

Headed for US Cellular ?

I was looking at the FCC documents and there is a clear distinction of the "UX8360" and "AX8360" model numbers, in addition to the "VX8360" which is obviously for VZW. Does anyone know of an plans for this phone to be released by US Cellular? I'm guessing the same goes for Alltel, but I'm not sure that they would even do that now, because of the VZW buyout of Alltel that has already closed...

thanks!

What is the best place to buy 8360?

I currently have mot VU30-which I really hate. The speaker sucks, ring tone not loud and vibrate too soft. What is the best place to buy 8360? I am only 2 months into contract with VU30, so I konw it will be expensive.
Does the 8360 play music if I bump the play button on the front, like my 8300 did? That was annoying and I didn't like having to use a lock code everytime I wanted to use phone to prevent this.
Can I e-mail my own ring tones like I did on my 8300? My VU30 won't.
Can I expect excellent speaker phone like the 8300?
thanks

Looks good, but not for multi-media

This looks to be a perfect phone for most people, with the better LCD resolution than 8300/8350, however still a 1.3 mp camera is a shame, and not offering a 3.5 mm headphone plug is a bigger shame. Wake up LG!

Verizon Plan

While the phone is great..... I had to
change my plan with Verizon to get the
phone.
Before I was able to use Get It Now
for minutes use only.
No more.... now it is amount of information
I download. Since I do not use the
internet on the phone. I thought it would
not be a issue.
But I did use Get It Now Weather.com.
which I pay a monthly fee. Besides the fee
it is a usage fee from Verizon for the
weather report.
I was not told all this when I got the
phone. I did not change my plan in th
middle of it. My contracted ended in
December 2008.
So anyone getting this phone I say
MAKE CERTAIN OF THE DETAILS OF THE
NEW CONTRACT.

How fat?

It looks fat when it's closed. Is it? Compared to the 8300? I'm not a big fan of LG, but the 8300 was just given to my husband since his phone died, and it's really nice.

Sound? Tones?

I was just curious as to how the volume is on this phone. Ringtones and ear piece. Also, can you customize tones for texts? like in the older lg's? And can you send tones to yourself via the yournumber@vzwpix.com? Thank you to anyone who can answer these questions!! 😁
