Enlighten me-- Centro vs. 755p

Everything I've been reading about the Centro suggests, technically, it might actually be slightly superior to the 755p.

Can someone validate this for me?

If this is indeed true, then enlighten me as to why people keep saying the Centro will *not* appeal to the "nerdy" or the more "technically-savvy." I can see how marketing spins the Centro as more "chic" vs. the 755p. But the nerds would clearly see the Centro's price/value ratio being significantly superior to the 755p's.

The only benefit I'm taking away with my trial w/ the 755p and the Centro vs. 755p comparo's I'm reading is that the 755p works better with my large bear paws. If the 755p's *only, true* advantage to the Centro is the size, I'm not sure it's worth paying $150...

Same-Old Treo... So unbelievably sad how far Palm has fallen...

My full review of the Centro:

I like the Treo Centro. It runs on the very dependable Sprint CDMA/EV-DO network. But it is the same phone as the Treo 600 that came out back in 2003. Palm decided that since the 600 was such a big success, that they had no need to make any kind of effort in designing a new phone. This holds true with the Centro. This phone has the (((SAME))) hardware as the Treo 600, 650, 700, 750, ect. Just a bit more memory and a so-called updated OS. The OS might have an update number of 5.4.9, but there is zero difference in the OS. I can not tell a difference at all. This is sad seeing as they made a Lunix based OS called Cobalt years ago and it has never seen the light of day.
The Centro still has the same bugs as eve...

Any decent fan sites for Palms?

Hi guys. I'm looking for a good fan site with nice tips and tricks for the Palm OS. I know of www.PPCgeeks.com for WM phones. I'm looking for a similar site for Palms. Any good ones?

SDHC Cards

I just purchased a Centro (without the Sprint plan, just the PDA) as I was miserable with my Palm TX and had tried and hated the 755p.

I have been checking to see if the Centro supports SDHC cards, as I would like to get a high speed 4GB card for my device. Does anyone know if the Centro will support these cards?

Thanks!

Verizon Version?

My bet is Verizon won't offer this phone until at least next Spring at the earliest, if at all. They're too busy sitting on their high hog thinking their sh|t doesn't stink.

Heck, as of the date of this message post, Verizon is still the only carrier not offering a Palm Treo without an antenna nub.

Centro & AIM.....Buddy List

I have a Sidekick 3 which I use for email, web, text & IM. I went to a Sprint store to look at the Centro and I like it. I signed onto AIM using the test phone but only 30 of my buddies were on my list when I have over 100...Is this something out of the blue or is 30 the only amount of buddies you are able to have using the Centro on AIM?

Palm centro phone as modem issue

First off, I know my first mistake is having Windows Vista 😛

I'm trying to get my phone as modem plan to work with Vista and the error I'm getting is a Palm Tether failure to load error 50, stating that my palm desktop software needs to be the most up to date. From everything I've checked, the palm desktop software that comes with the centro cd is the most up to date and it's sounding like the palm desktop is just plain not compatible with Windows Vista... can anybody confirm this? I cannot find any support on Palm.com for Palm Desktop with Vista. This really isn't critical to me since I'll have new wireless internet for my laptop in 3 days, but if we can find a solution to this, it may help others.

Thank you ahead of time for anybo...

Stereo Headphone Jack?

Can anyone confirm that that headphone jack is in stereo? I purchased an adapter (2.5mm to 3.5mm) and I can only hear sound from the right earbud (apple in ear earbuds).

I tried all the different app/music players etc with the same result.

Thanks in advance!

Ringtones?

Does anyone know how to make a ringtone for this phone? Is there a way to use a mp3? Or does any one know of a way to convert a mp3 to a mid file for free? I looked on the web and all I can find is free software that will take the first 5 sec. I want 30 sec.

I have some questions - MP3 Pictures NAI etc..

Can I disable NAI on this so I can connect to my Tapwave Zodiac to get internet via BT without having to pay for Tethering? (Whats the difference if I browse on my Palm Zodiac or on the palm Centro to sprint :-)

Can I use MP3's as ringers and can they reside on the Mini SD card?

Does it support Picture caller ID ? can these reside on the SD card and is it large or tiny?

Are the pictures independent of the phone software? IE can I access the pictures from the file system unlike on a normal phone? such as uploading pics to flickr etc..

Does it support Independent Voice Dial? (Like Sanyo's)

Is the battery user replaceable?

This would be my first experience with a Smart Phone or PDA phone hence all the questions. I kind of want...

WiFi?

I was pretty sure I hadn't read anything about this phone having WiFi, and if it did have WiFi I would have expected that to make pretty big news...

That being said, the FCC filing has the 800Mhz, 1900Mhz papers listed, as well as 2.4Ghz...

Anyone have an explanation for this?

Hi,

I heard the palms cannot multitask. But, can I listen to an mp3 while doing something else, like writing a document?
