volume adjustment

Has anyone found a way to adjust the ring and device volumes without having to tap the volume icon on the top right of the screen? I came from an 8125 where I was spoiled to having the volume slider on the side of the phone. I know that you can adjust the volume when a call is coming in or while on a call with the scroll wheel on the side, but I often need to quickly switch to vibrate and was hoping there was a way to do that without busting out the stylus!

Phone will not boot

Ok here is the problem. Phone is a brand new AT&T phone I purchased off of Ebay about two weeks ago.

Off of Ebay, I purchased one of the USB 3 in 1 splitters that you can plug into the phone. It allows you to connect your phone to a charger while also using the headphones.

I plugged it into my phone and then pluged in my car charger into the adapter. The left light on the phone immediately blinked red once and then continued to blink blue on the right light really fast. I sensed something was wrong and immediately unplugged the phone from the converter. It was plugged in for less than 3 seconds.

Now here is my problem. The phone will not power on. I have tried everything. Soft reset, hard reset, removing the battery, plugging the ph...

Dialing phone numbers-advice appreciated

I am a new owner of the Tilt and am still getting accustomed to this mini-computer. I frequently need to dial numbers with my thumb while driving and have quite a bit of difficulty because of the small size of the numbers. It seems quite laborious to slide the phone open to use the keyboard--how do others do this? Does this recognize voice commands? Thanks for your input-

Birthdays and anniversaries are off

Has anyone else seen this? When you enter a contact in outlook and include a birthday and/or anniversary for that contact and then sync that contact to your tilt, the dates on the tilt seem to be a day off.

I entered a contact with a birthday of 10/15/77 in outlook but it ended up as 10/14/77 in the tilt after the sync. The strange thing is that if i enter the contact in the tilt and then sync to the phone the dates come across correct. This doesn't seem to affect the birthday entry in the calendar. So the calendar entry on the phone and in outlook both have the all all day event showing up on 10/15 every year.

I have looked around on the web and have not seen any mention of this problem anywhere. I'm running windows xp pro sp2 an...

Custom Alarm Tones?

I was wondering, does anyone know how to transfer custom alarm tones through the data cable that comes with the phone? I have tried mp3 files that have been cut, wav files and ogg files, however none of the files play for alarms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Java midlet missing

My java applet is missing from my program files for some strange reason. I used to have an icon labeled "java" where i could access opera mini 4 browser and gmail app but can not find it anymore.

When I try re-installing, the system states that the apps are still on the device and if i wish to overwrite it. When I overwrite it, the app launches and works fine... but when I exit the app, there is no icon where i can access it again.

Do not know what happened to it. Any ideas on how to recover? Thanks.

HSUPA is coming

Now that AT&T has announced that it plans to implement HSUPA in a few select cities by mid 2008, do we have any idea which select cities that will be?

I'm hoping for Seattle... which you'd hope would be on the list seeing as AT&T's HQ is here... so that I can cruise the airwaves with my high-speed Tilt!

Newbie to the Tilt

Well, I've finally, left my old but reliable treo 650 and stepped up to the world of AT&T Tilt. I've only had the phone for a couple of days and already have questions (or shall I say adjustments).

First, the keyboard isn't as suitable for big hands I would have hoped, the keypad is ultra sensitive, you either have to press the keys really hard to hit a char or you barely touch it and there's multiple char on the screen (arrugh)

I will ask this, with the Palm OS on my Treo, there were some nice features and Id like to know has the developers considered a SW upgrade; for example, I could use a feature to add more custom text to the 'my text' when sending text messages; also icons would help also.

Next, is there any way to take self...

OH MY DEAR GOD! The Tilt is sssssllllooooowwwww.

Holy crap... I have had many PDA phones in the past... (MDA, PPCXXXX, etc) and I was stoked to hear about this thing coming out.

My review:

CONS:
Slow---> slower than the Blackjack II who has half the processor power. When you hit the green talk button and TRY to dial a number from the touchscreen it lags like crazy.

Pretty heavy... lighter than any PPC phone I have carried.. but still pretty heavy.

Battery life isn't that great. I hate to compare it to my BJ2, but dang... The Tilt is dead from just staying connected to MSN via 3G where as the BJ2 isn't.

Price---> I took my Tilt back about 4 days after using it. Not worth the funds.

PROS:

Good auto focus 3mp camera
Smaller (size wise) than any PPC I have used
That's ...

tilt vs. iphone vs. Voyager

I am looking to upgrade soon, and was wondering what you all think is the best phone for my purposes (or in general) between the tilt, iphone and voyager. My principle uses (other than talking on the phone) would be taking pictures (and videos) and gps navigation. To a lesser degree I would also listen to music, and maybe once in a blue moon surf the web. I thought the tilt would be the best, but I was just in an AT&T store, and the lady behind the counter told me that, in order to get gps navigation on the tilt, you are required to also get internet, which costs $40 a month. I can't believe that's right. For those of you that have it, how much would a basic plan (450 minutes) plus gps and maybe the cheapest internet cost? I don't thin...
