Can you watch video with phone closed?

I got the chocolate on Friday and have a few videos on it now and was wondering if you can watch them with the slider shut. Every time I try it shuts off the video. Thanks for the help.

Question about touch buttons - Thinking of getting this phone

Do the touch buttons ever just stop working? I don't know if I want this phone, the LG enV or the samsung SCH-u470. I like this phone but i am scared that the buttons will eventually wear out, has anyone had this problem or any other problems with this phone?

Poor Man's Music Essentials Kit

I'm looking for a cheaper way to replicate the Music Essentials Kit that Verizon charges an arm and a leg for. I already have normal stereo headphones; I just need an adapter. I don't need a software disc if it's free to download from VZW.

Does anyone know what the model number and whatnot for the USB cable is that comes with the kit? All of the ones I see on ebay claim to act as phone chargers as well. I was under the impression that the "official" one was just a data sync cable, not a charger, too. I just want to make sure I don't screw up my phone trying to sync my music library.

Ringtones

I was looking up online about how to get my favorite songs as my ringtones. My friend mention something about edit using adobe audition and then sending the edited file to my phone via email. But lately it has stopped working so can anyone tell me a better and more efficient way?

Thinking of returning Razr 2 and getting new Chocolate. But I have some basic questions, help!

I have had the Razr 2 for a week now, and so far I am still on the fence about keeping it. I'm coming from an LG 8100 and have had LGs for years, but heard all the hype about the new Razr so I decided to go with my first Moto in many years.

Basically, I've gone through trials of the LG 8700, and Samsung U740 so far and now the Razr 2. Ultimately, I end up comparing every phone I've had, feature-wise, to my old 8100. I've always been a fan of flips, but now I'm really considering trying the new Chocolate. Can anyone that's had the phone for a while (over a month) give me opinions and help answer the questions on the following:

1. How sturdy is the slide? Do you think it will get loose?
2. Can you read text messages on the front wi...

Slide Auto Lock

I turned off the Slide Auto Lock in the phone settings. It stays off for maybe 1 minute then shows up on the display screen as on even though in the settings its off. I'm wondering if this is only my phone's problem or is it a software glich on all the VX8550s.

Has anyone played around with this option besides me. Thanks if you can help.

New LG Chocolate or wait for new RAZR V9?

I am getting very tired of waiting for the new razr as I am worried that the same thing will happen when it is released as it did with the MAXX. I waited and waited and then once released, the MAXX was not at all what I had expected.

I really just want a phone that will make calls, play ringtones, and play music. Is the chocolate (the new one) a good choice for me? I have only owned one LG (the vx6100) and I liked that but it would drop calls all the time and made a buzzing sound when on a call. SO, I have NEVER had trouble with Motorolas and was hoping to get another.

ANyone that owns a chocolate (or who might have if at all possible gotten hold of a v9) that can help, I'd appreciate it!

White page on Power on

A white page shows up anytime I turn the power on that says: "Registering applications" and disappears in about 30 seconds! This a few day old phone and very annoying to see that message. Anybody has same problem? Should I exchange for another one. Beside that I love this phone.

just a dumb question, but ask anyway..

This could be a dumb question, but I just want to be sure: The phone supports 4GB mirco SD, but the only 4gb transflash on the market now is called "micro SDHC." I know the HC stands for "high capacity", but some people say there might be minor differences between micro SD and micro SDHC.

Does anyone use a 4gb mirco SDHC, and know for sure that it does work with this chocolate phone?

Thanks.

songs and videos from SD card?

Just some quick questions:

1) I can load songs from my PC to a card and then to the phone, but the phone only shows the names of around 50% of the songs. The remaining songs are there, but are listed as "track 1, track 2" etc. The songs whose names are not shown are often listed in the song info with artist, album, and genre unknown. Is there a way to make the phone recognize the names that I have for the songs (the names still show on the card)?

2) In which folder on the SD card should I put video clips so that I can watch them on the phone?

Thanks.

Calendar Sync?

I know I must be in the minority, but now that it's time for a new phone, the one feature I really want is a good calendar. Does the Chocolate (or any other non-PDA phone) have any way to sync the calendar with a PC (or Google Calendar)?

Of course, I recognize I could just get a Treo or Crackberry or other PDA phone, but I don't do a ton of text messaging and I don't particularly WANT e-mails coming to my cell phone. Oh, and I don't want to pay that much, either.

Watching movies on Chocolate II

On my LG 8300 i was able to watch to movies that I converted into 3gp or 3g2 format. I used the IMTOO 3GP converter. I still have the same files on my pc and I assume that the same thing is possible on the choco. but Ive only tried using the VCast music manager software that came with the music kit and its clearly only for audio. If I just load my micro sd card into a usb doo-dad, what file do I need to put my videos in for it to play on my 8550?

anyone have any other tips on this topic?

LG VX8550 music trouble!

OK so I have a mac and have just purchased a the LG VX 8550. I quickly learned that the syncing was not compatible with macs and itunes so I bought a card reader and did the whole "click and drag thing". But then when I put the card back into my phone there were duplicate files of the songs(oddly names "bj") and won't play. Yet when I put the card back onto my computer the files aren't there! The named music files do play on my phone but I'm curious about these other files because they a. take up storage space and b. get in the way of trying to play through all the songs (ie on shuffle). If anyone else has a mac/itunes and VX8550 problems and could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

a simpler way of making a call??

I tested the new Chololate at a Verizon store, and it seems that making a call is more complicated than it should be. I would need to press the "contact" button to get to the contact list, wheel down to the person I want to call, and, instead of just pressing a "call" button like most other phones, I would need to press an "option" button, wheel down again to choose the "call" option 😕

For those of you who have been using this phone, can you set up the phone so that you can simply get to the contact list, wheel down to the person you want to call, and then just press a "call" button and make a call?

Thanks
