Changing Display Name - Boost W385

Anyone know how to change the display name on the W385 Unlimited Boost? I upgraded from the C290, which allowed the easy changing of the display name that appears on other peoples' caller IDs. Now I can't change it. Any help is appreciated!

Speakerphone

Hi everyone, I'll be getting the W385 next week and was wondering if there was a speaker on the outside of the phone. Also when using the speakerphone does the phone have to be open or can I talk using the speakerphone with it closed? I'm upgrading and my previous phone doesn't have a speakerphone so this is all new to me, thanks for the help.

Motorola Customer Satisfaction...!!! GET ON IT!

🤣

Motorola has a thing called "customer satisfaction".
I found out by complaining about my USB cable connecting to my computer last week. They said they will send one out FREE as a loyal(first timer with a fake name too! haha) customer and for customer satisfaction.

Now I spoke to rep today after no show for a few days and they said back ordered and I asked if they could throw in a car charger.
Rep said they couldnt, but call back next week(or each week for that matter!) and ask about customer satisfaction and get a car charger AFTER i have received the USB cable...

Just FYI for my peeps out in wonderland...

Now thats customer service! If you got BOOST then you knw the scam to purchase accessories... Hit this opportunity u...

Microphone is always on!

It's been only one day since I had this phone, but I am having trouble with this particular problem which seems to be happening on my wife's phone as well. (she also has w385)

When I speak to someone on this phone, I can hear my voice through the ear piece! At first, I thought it was the problem with the network, but it wasn't.

When the phone is off, and when I press any button, I can hear my voice through the ear piece for about 4 to 5 seconds. Once the back light is turned off, it seems that the microphone turns off and everything becomes normal.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? It's VERY annoying and I might have to return this problem.

Thanks.

Datebook -W385- Verizon

Does anyone know how to set the datebook reminder for re-occurring events longer then several weeks?

On other Motorola phones I could set the datebook reminders for an unlimited length of time.

PROBLEM?

I really like this phone but Verizon has had to replace two of them within ten days. Seems the phone just freezes up. Wonder if anyone else has experienced this or perhaps it is a bad batch. Now on my third one and hope this one will work. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Need detailed insructions on how to download rings

I have never downloaded rings onto a phone before. I love my w385 but the number of available rings is very limited, and the ones available are not loud enough (except for the "classic" and "provincial"). So, I need to find and get some new rings. I don't really want to use the "Get It Now" service -- I have never used it before, but it seems that Verizon charges a lot for it -- I may be wrong though.

I have ready somewhere that a ring can be emailed as a picture attachment and then saved as a ring. Could someone provide detailed instructions? Is there a site with free rings that one could recommend? Does a ring need to be first converted to a specific format? If so, which utility should I use? In short, I need detailed instructions.

switching to/from vibrate mode??

is there an easy way to switch in and out of vibrate mode like on the v325 where you can just hit the side buttons when closed?

or do you just have to open the phone and go volume all the way up or down?

to me its unacceptable if there isn't a quick way of switching...

anyone know anything about this?

getting phonebook from old phone to W385

I have a ton of phone numbers in my old phone (on SIMM card). Verizon said I had no way to transfer them to my W385. Is this really true? Is there no software that can take my phone numbers from one phone and send them to my W385?

Upgrading from Motorola E815

I've had the E815 for 2+ years and am ready for my NE2. This is the best phone I've had in terms of reception and reliability - my area gets good reception, but inside my house is awful - except with E815. Battery has been sluggish - not really holding a charge anymore. Am considering the LG 8350 and Moto W385. I don't care much about bells and whistles (own a digital camera, PDA, laptop). I need reliability in terms of reception, no dropped calls and battery life. (Son has LG 8300 and claims to get good reception in house). Any suggestions?

Vibrate Mode -- Problem

I have a problem with this phone on vibrate mode:

When I'm scrolling thru the menus, everytime I reach the bottom of the list the phone vibrates the scroll bar resets to the top of the list.

How can I turn this off? When the phone is in the regular ringtone modes you can turn the keypad volume off but it doesn't do anything for vibrate mode.

Downloading ringtones..can't get it to work

I am very confused...I tried yeahright's suggestion of downloading ringtones to my phone. I downloaded the mp3 cutter from cnet and then I tried to send it via email at myphone#@vzwpix.com and I got an email back saying it could not deliver. Then I tried his second suggestion and tried to send it through the funformobile.com site and it said that it sent me a mms message but I received no message on my phone. I have a Motorola w385? Could there be some kind of block on my phone, meaning do I have something enabled that should not be? any suggestions?? Thanks.

Phone heating up??

I was thinking about this phone since I can get it for free. It has so many great reviews online, great call quality is mostly what I care about. However, my cell phone is my cell, personal, and business phone all rolled into one so I am on it a lot and for long calls. I read one review that said it got hot during heavy use which would really bug me!

Anyone have this issue?

Other phones I was considering were the Samsung u540, Nokia 6315i, LG vx8300.

thanks
