Does it vibrate loud?

On some phone like the vx-8100 when in vibrate mode it vibrates really loud. Enough for other people to hear and in places that are quiet. A friend of mine has the vx-8600 and it is not even noticeable when it vibrates. Is the vx-8700 like that or is it loud? Thank you.

Ringtones Solved

I have been using MAGIX ringtone maker to create my ringtones but regardless of what program you choose to use after creating your ringtones do the following, this is assuming you have a data cable or using the bluetooth feature: Open Bitpim, then click on the "Filesystem icon", to the right of that, you will now see a blue folder double click on that folder, now goto the "brew folder", "mod folder", then the "10889 folder", now you will see a "ringtones folder". Right-click on the ringtones folder and select "New File" now insert your ringtone.

Extended Battery Size?

I'm also not happy with the short battery life of the 8700. My 8000 lasted considerably longer. Can someone tell me if the extended battery with the cover still fits in the Verizon leather case, or if you have to use it without the case?

All of a sudden, I can't send any new pics I've taken with my phone to my PC. It just says "Sending Message Failed". But I can still send pics that were previously on my phone. How can I fix this?

Personalized ringtones for contacts

I like to have personalized ringtones for some of my contacts. I seem to be able to do this with the 8700, but there is one contact that, although it says the proper ringtone in the profile, the phone will ring the default tone that I have set for the phone. This contact's numbers are "restricted". Should that be causing this problem? I have set others, and they seem to be working. I've only had the phone for a few days, and the jury is still out. I can't for the life of me open the battery charging door with my acrylic nails. I have to use a toothpick. boo hoo

backlight settings

Can anyone confirm that the backlight setting for the keypad does not function properly. Whatever is set for the main display backlight seems to override whatever is set for the keypad backlight. For example, set main display backlight to 7 seconds, set keypad backlight to "always on". Both display and keypad backlights go off after 7 seconds.

Ringtones / EVDO

I have just purchased an LG 8700 and want to know how to transfer ringtones from my old phone and/or add new ringtones that I record to my new phone. There seems to be several ways, but I don't know which would be the best, and least costly.

Also how do you turn off EVDO. I understand if you don't use the data features it is a good idea to turn this off.

Thanks for any help.

Low Signal Stength

OK my problem is that at the house I frequently only have one bar of signal strength. I also will be on a call and suddenly will get the "Call Was Lost" dropped call message. Does anyone know if this issue is correctable somehow? I mean if there's something I can buy that will remedy the problem I'm all for it. Other than this I haven't had any problems and I've had the phone for 4 months now. Thanx.

Transferring Contacts - cable or bluetooth

I like the 8700, but I’m frustrated at not being able to accomplish the one task that I thought would be possible with the expanded Bluetooth profiles this phone offered: being able to transfer about 600 phone contacts into the phone from my Entourage address book.

I use a MacBook with Tiger, and am using Entourage . . . although I'm open to using Mac's Address Book and Mail instead, if it will help me accomplish this goal. (I also have an HP tablet PC, with Outlook, and could use that for the transfer if it would work better.) I'm also open to getting a phone-to-computer cable, if one is available for this purpose, and if Bluetooth is not a workable solution.

I've tried Antonio Ferraioli's On-Sync shareware (which I used successful...

Copy Cats

Did anyone notice that the new LG VX-8700, looks just like the original Motorola Razr. Copying the bottom lip and silver finish.
(Although I do like the stylish stainless steel look on this LG).

And on that note, did anyone also notice that the new Motorola RAZR 2 looks exactly like the old LG VX-8600. Copying the smooth black profile instead of having the old Razr bottom lip.

Doesn’t anyone have any original styling ideas anymore???

8600 Data Cable & 8700???

Today I had to have my beloved 8600 replaced (under warranty) with the 8700 (my Verizon store is out of the 8600, so . . . ). When I tried to connect to BitPim to put my ringtones, etc. on this new phone, I was surprised that the USB cable (the ne that came with the VZW Music Essentials Kit for my 8600) would not sync my phone (even though the cable does "fit."
Oh, gee. Must I buy another USB cable for this 8700?
Thanks!

Speaker on handset stopped working

Anyone experienced similar issue? I had been using call announce & vibrate functions, a call came in and it suddenly stopped working all together, could only hear if I used headphones or bluetooth after that. However, Verizon did FedEx me a replacement but there goes my Deer Hunter 2 scores.

Is there no headset jack?

According to the stats, no headset jack is listed. If you want to use a hands-free earpiece, are you forced to go BlueTooth?

Text messages...T9

I use T9 a lot with my old Moto E815 and it gave you the option of choosing a different 'predictive text' but with the 8700 i can't seem to change to a different word...

For example: I want to type "Games" but "Hands" come up...is there anyway to change to a different word?
