Question for current WING users!

Hello, I am considering this phone as well as the DASH and was wondering a few things. For WING users:

1 does this phone work well with editing word and excel documents?

2 I plan on getting the data plan but not initially. So my question is do you have to pay for the data plan in order to use WiFi?

3 When you use AIM or messenger services on the dash does it require data plan and does it charge per text msg? if so are there applications that would allow you to use messengers without deducting txt msgs but just uses data?

4 Does anyone know of a 3rd party application website?

5 Really how much does this phone lag? I have read reviews and all say it lags on performance when shifting screens like when you open the keyboard and so...

Wing for $49.99, no activation, 1 year contract

I followed the link in the T-Mobile thread and got the Wing for the above mentioned deal. No data plan required, no internet plan, no surprises.

This is a promotion from T-Mobile. Fear not.

Torn between Curve and Wing

Ok so I need opinions. I'm really torn in purchasing the Wing or waiting for T-Mobile to get the Blackberry Curve. I currently have the 8700 and like it but I really miss the camera function. My concerns with the Wing are......is it capable of IM messaging? I have a internet based program for IM on my Blackberry and don't want to give that up if the Wing is not capable of having that. I don't want to have T-Mobile bill me for IM messages as text messages. Also I have heard rumors that the processor is slow on the Wing because of Windows Mobile. Is this true? Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Very Happy

Home Service?

Every once in a while on my Wing, the Today screen will say "Home Service" instead of "T-Mobile". My WiFi and bluetooth are turned off.

Is this a glitch? Or is my phone connected to a neighbor's T-Mobile @Home router thingy?

Wing cases and pouches

Does anyone have suggestions for a good case to hold the Wing? I'm not satisfied with the pouch that comes with the Wing. It's difficult to remove the Wing without pressing a button. Too many times I've accidentally hit the answer button before seeing who's calling or even before it's out of the case. Has anyone tried cases from PDair or Monaco?

I didn't have as many problems with my Treo and it's case.

Lotus Notes access/compatibility with Wing

Anyone have experience with syncing your email, contacts (address book), calendar, and tasks (to-do's) on the Wing with both Outlook & Lotus Notes. I use Outlook at home, but have Notes at work, and I'd like to have both sync'd up with the Wing. Let me know if you have any recommendations, warnings, or other words of advice. Thanks!

Wont be upgrading my MDA yet...

I own an MDA and have spent a lot of time using the Wing and I have to say that while the Wing is great, I won't be running out to upgrade my MDA.

If you are really brave, you can reflash the ROM on an MDA to make it much much faster and use WM6 (but you risk turning the phone into a brick) and this makes a huge difference.

There is no question that WM6 is better than WM5, its much more stable and things "just work" better, but if you aren't brave enough to attempt a 3rd party ROM update, the MDA with WM5 isn't too bad and you won't really miss that much.

One big difference with the wing is the keyboard, I pretty much hate typing on the MDA because it was very much not designed with long finger nails in mind, but the Wing is a lot e...
