u740 Observations

1. If your concerned with the long term reliability of the two way hinge (I am not), you could always reduce the strain on the hinge by opening the phone in the same axis as irt's pivot point. That is, open the phone from it's right side in portraight mode and open it from it's left side (next to the top) fo landscape mode.

2. Re: poor blurry pictures commented on by some:
a. Check to make sure that the picture resolution has not been set or defaulted to its lowest seting (160X120. I hace a suspicion that if your memory is low the camera may automatically default to a lower resolution setting.
b. Make sure "Quality" is set on "Fine".
c. Check your White Balance setting.
d. VERY IMPORTANT! It is very easy to smear the glass or plastic ...

Just got my new u740, have some questions!

Hi, I hope someone can help me with these:

-I have the MEK so I have put some cds from my computer to my phone by 'syncing' it. However, I don't know how to get pictures from my phone to my computer or from my computer to my phone.

-I like taking pictures in landscape mode because they are nice and large, but when I'm viewing them in landscape mode they take up about 1/2 the screen (they are shrunk and in the middle rather than filling the screen). Am I doing something wrong? What's the point of the large screen and tkaing big pictures so that I can see them in small size?

-When I'm playing an Mp3 I can't do anything else like send a text or play a game. Is there a way to get out of the music player while still having it play?

Great phone...a few tips and questions

Overall I love this phone. I do notice that it could be louder though. When I have it in the leather case I can barely hear it ring at all on the highest volume. Does anyone else have this problem? As far as Music goes, you can store your own MP3's on the phone. For the MP3's you need a memory card, and either a card reader built into your PC or one that plugs into your USB port. Format the card on your phone and then put it into the card reader. Open the folder for the card and you'll see Folders for your pix, flix, music, etc... Open windows media player Version 10 and sync your songs to the card. Go back to the folder window and move the songs INTO the My_music folder. When done put the card back into your phone and turn off then back on....

phone color

Hi,

Does anybody know if this phone is going to come in different colors? I like the fucntionality of the phone, but the gold metalic color is just awful. If it came in black or silver I would definitely get it.

Thanks!

eudora2go on u740

I'd like to try a brew email client like eudora2go or sodapopmail, rather than wireless sync. For one thing, it's cheaper ($5/month vs. $20), the other is that I want to check more than one account.

I'm assuming that wireless sync from verizon will push multiple account inboxes into the one phone inbox and that I can't choose from which email account to reply. For example, I want to check both my gmail and work email accounts, but i don't want to mix them together.

a) is that assumption correct?
b) Anyone know when/if verizon will make other mail clients available on the u740?

Text

Hi I just got this phone a few days ago and I'm still trying to get used to it. I have noticed that when I am texting I can only go up to 160 items then I get some mess age about not being able to put any more in. Could someone please help me out with this one. Thats the only grip I have so far about the phone.

Thanks

Phone Turns off

My phone turns off every night that I charge it overnight. I know it is not good to always charge it overnight but sometimes I have to. Anyway, verizon sent me a replacement phone and it does the same thing. Does anyone else have this problem? This is not good as I use my phone as an alarm. When I wake up it says charge complete but the phone is off.

Handset earpiece speaker - noise

Hey everyone - another thing I've encountered with my 48 hour use of the U740... when the earpiece volume is turned to its highest setting, sometimes it has a scratching noise (a sound like when you blow across the side of a piece of paper) when people speak. Kind of sounds like the speaker is loose or overpowered ... went back to Verizon wireless and exchanged it twice, and all 3 phones do the same thing. An old motorola I've had used to do it and it went away once I exchanged it. Has anyone else experienced the same problem or know if there's a solution? The verizon tech agrees that it's an annoyance ...

SCH-U740 coming out in "simpson's" edition

In my opinion, it's strange. The phone is bright orange/yellowish color with the Simpson's logo, what does everyone else think?

Importing Pictures - Not Supported

Hi everyone! Need a little help please: I have pictures taken from my digital camera (Canon Elph SD110) that I placed on a micro SD card, plugged it into the Samsung U740 and tried to view some and customize it for wallpaper, contact pictures, etc. In fact, a few of these pictures on the SD card were taken from my SCH-A990... they're all in JPG format and my A990 has no problem reading these. But on the U740, the index doesn't show the picture, but with each thumbnail it says "Not support 1280x960", and I can't see the pics. I've taken a few pics using the U740's camera and they show up OK. Any idea on how I can use my other pics on the U740? I have some personal pictures i'd like for my wallpaper, etc.

Thanks so much for the help!...
