BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Whats up everyone
Listen..I dont know much about phones and I am comminbg over from verizon and thinking about getting the pearl...wondering if thats a good idea? If anyone thinks no, any idea on what phone to get, it doesnt matter Phone,Blackberry,PDA?...please help...thanks alot everyone

I am currently looking for a new phone and would like to get 1 of these 3 phones. Any input as far the pearl compared to the others would be greatly appreciated. How would this phone be for a regular 9-5 mouse jockey?

Ok, so ive had my eye on this phone for about a week now and i pretty much had made up my mind to treat myself on my upcoming bday, until finding this out. It had everything necessary to be the perfect phone, but now im reading in other forums there is no streaming video via the net and audio will need a third party app installed and be a seperate bill as well (QuickPlayer). So my question is this, will it become an option once the 3G network replaces EDGE? And how soon is this suppose to happen anyways? I just dont get what is the purpose of having such a powerful phone on a network that cant bring out its full capabilities.

Also what appealed to me is the option to use this phone as a modem for my laptop, and I guess using the EDGE netw...

All my text messages and Emails just keep going to the Messages program. I set up an email and I have the little email icon but whenever I get a new email it jus goes to "Messages." Anyone know how to solve this?

my backlight seems to get bright and then after like 2-3 seconds it goes dim and stays dim and then out of nowhere gets bright again and then dim again lol im not sure if its possible that thats how its suppose to be.... or is it just my phone and i should get it looked at?

Is anyone familiar with how you configure your blackberry NOT to state at the end of emails that it's been sent by BBerry?

Hi anyone put movies on the phone yet? i tried my formats and all my videos freeze. if any else is haveing this problem or figured out how to put video clips on please let me know. thanks in advance

Does anybody know of any free video creators for the Pearl?

Does anyone know of a free video converter to convert the video so that it will play on the blackberry pearl?

I have tried to watch videos on the pearls browser (at youtube for example), and they keep sending me to the adobe site to get a flash player.
Once I'm there however it tells me that there is no player compatible with my device. Is this just not possible, or is there somewhere I should be looking?

I have downloaded several avi and MPEG videos and have not been able to play them. I loaded them to my Pearl by copying them via the enabled mass storage feature. Please share the correct method to load videos.....Thanks!

OK so I finally got the time to DL some mmusic into my 1GB SD card in my Pearl and the music was .wma files but they don't even show up on the phone. Does music have to be of a certain format to be able to be seen and played on my Pearl ? If so, what format and can .wma , mp3 and other types of music and video files be converted to mp4 type (if that is the type that is needed) ?

I just got my Pearl today and am so excited about getting to know its many features, but so far, I'm not having the best of luck. ☹️ I downloaded PocketMac in order to sync my phone, but I also have a pc. Can someone please tell me how I transfer MP3's from my PC to my phone? I've been looking everywhere and reading through the forums and it seems that everyone knows how to do it but me. By the way, I also have the sync software for my PC. Whichever is easier, can someone please help me out?? Thanks.

Does anyone know how to put your own ringtones on the Pearl? For example, from your computer to the phone? Thanks.

Is it required to get the Blackberry data plan with cingular or can u use the MediaNet series of plans with this device? Note: I will not be using any of the specialized features of the blackberry such as push email, ptt, etc.
