I don't know about the rest of you guys. But I will chalk this up to professional courtesy

The new 3G chips ( the white/blue ones) have been having problems in the 417. Use the the White/orange stripe chips instead.

You might get folks complaining of the phone saying...CHECK SIM/INVALID SIM quite often
dropping calls, or missing calls as a result

It is not the phone, but the chip itself

I know our store had done like a dozen exchangews before we figured it out

C417 Headset jack stopped working ...

Hi. My wife and I both have SGH-C417s (mine is black, my wife's red) and last month we purchased two (wired) headsets.

The problem is that the headsets just recently stopped working - we don't use them that often so it was probably last week when we last used the headsets and today (Feb 18, 2007) BOTH stopped working. Actually they "sorta" work but when you call someone they emit a continuous annoying BEEPING SOUND and are utterly useless because of this.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or are we the only cheap ones not using bluetooth with this phone?

NOTE: the headset jack on this phone requires a 2.5mm FOUR connection headset (which is very hard to find - most 2.5mm are THREE connection). If you plug a 2.5mm THREE headset j...

Back Up Contact List

Hey there,

I just got this samsung to replace a nokia and was wondering if it was possible to have all my contacts simultaneously on my phone and sim card without having duplicates shown when I scroll through the contact list.

Put differently, is there an option on the phone only to see contact info from the phone or only from the sim chip? I want to do this so that if the phone/sim chip ever breaks, I can easily switch the phone/sim chip without re-inputting everything.

Thanks very much!

Looking for smartphone compatible with verizon.

I'm looking to purchase a smartphone or something that is very compatiable with outlook. The best one would be a small flip phone - have a speakerphone and bluetooth. I am currently using verizon and would like to continue but the only thing I see is the cingular star trek phone. Are there any other alternatives coming out?

overall performance? alarm clock?

i'm in the process of switching phones. i saw how slim and affordable this was.

i was wondering how the overall performance of the phone was? any huge drawbacks? also, i read the alarm clock only works when the phone is off? is this true?

text messaging issues

has anyone here had problems with text messages not being received from the SGH c417?

I just got this phone yesterday and so far at least a third of the messages I've sent have not been received. This happened maybe twice with my old Nokia. I did not switch carriers.

Question about external screen

Can anyone who has this phone tell me if the external window stays lit up when you open the flip to make a call, or does it go dark?

Thanks in advance.

No mention of the MOTORAZR V3xx or Max???

I just wonder since they were suppose to come out the fourth quarter of 2006.

Motorola was not even mention other then using the Razr as a comparison.

I think the preview is faulted; in that they did not cover all the manufacturers and to leave out Motorola; the leader it pretty biase review in MHO.

Boring, lackluster phones with 4hitty 176x220 screens.. YUCK!! Come on, we're going towards the late 00's now people. Most phones should be QVGA by now. Honestly. 🙄

The only one that caught my attention was the D900. Otherwise the rest is garbage. Even my beloved Sony Ericsson failed to grab my attention. Sad ☚ī¸ Where the hell was Nokia?

Other coming phones... Need info!

Rich, or anyone, I am wondering if anyone has info (specs, features, etc) on any of these handsets possibly coming to sprint:

Samsung M610
Sanyo 7000
Sanyo M1

Also, any better pics of the ICY phones (hybrid cdma/iden phones) would be good too.

Lastly while searching for skus, I found these, listed as current models, wondering if they are anything:

Samsung A500i
Samsung N400i (both blue and silver)

Pre-Preview? When is the holiday preview?

How can this be a pre-preview, does this mean that there is a Holiday Preview coming before Mid-October?
Just curious.

LG LX-350

the side view where the headset jack is looks like theres a door below it for a memory card, and the button on the other side looks like its a memory card button. Any info? Seems strange that such a low-end phone would have a card slot... not that its a bad thing just strange...

Samsung status LEDs?

It seems that no new Samsung handsets being released from this point on have status LEDs. Is this a cost cutting measure? How expensive can a few LEDs cost...?
