1. You've got the SIM in wrong (I know this sounds like common sense, but check it anyway, what could it hurt?)
2. Your phone's not actually unlocked. This is DEFINATELY the case if the phone follows the "invalid SIM" message with a request for a code.
Otherwise the phone should be compatible. If you got it directly from T-Mo then some of the software will be different and the WAP browser may be non-functional (not so sure about the BB browser). But a quick call into Cing. customer care (or a visit to a competent rep.) should be able to get you squared away.
