Where's the StarTac?
I was looking on phone finder and noticed the Motorola StarTac isn't on there! I know it's an ancient phone but a lot of the elderly still use it. I had a guy come in here today and I floundered when trying to talk abou the StarTac. The man INSISTED it was strictly an analog phone but I was under the impression it was tri-mode. I went to phone scoop and didn't see anything!!
What's the dilly yo?

actually there are analog only versions of the star tac. they are quite old. i used to have one many years ago. radio shack also used to sell them - the basic version was one of their penny phones.

I too had/have an ancient analog StarTAC. When I say ancient I mean ANCIENT. Like it was just out and still cost around $300! They got down to a penny when TDMA really started kickin in as the prevailing tech (even though it wasn't widespread in my area) and I kicked myself HARD!

I bought one when they were about $100. At the time, it was a great phone... very compact to carry. I actually miss it.

I never noticed it before but the black RAZR kind of reminds me of a futuristic StarTAC. I wonder if that's what they were going for...

The startac was an option on 2002 or 03 mercedes benz SLK's, they are mounted in the console and use voice control thru the cars stereo system, very slick setup. My buddy has one in his. Got to wonder whats in the newer MB's now...

The last I checked, the website said to go to a mercedes dealer for up-to-date specs. But the website had pics of a v60, v600 and v710 all mercedes branded. I would hope they have something better than the v710 to offer cdma customers (because the v60 no longer works on verizon's network due to E911 standards). But, they may have a mercedes branded razr. I wouldn't know for sure.
