NOKIA: The Worst Cell Maker...

thecellmaster2000

Mar 21, 2004, 3:00 PM
NOKIA's cell phones are for the inexperienced cell phone user. If you are over 15 you should not own a NOKIA. The phones are all huge and boring. They don't make flips at all were the market should be. There phones are lacking in a complex software base. If anyone is considering getting a new service plan i would highly advise against a NOKIA. Also, all of their phones have that same boring and dull styling. I really hate that company.

actually nokia is makin 2-3 flip phones this year. nokia has the most technology in a phone that i ever seen. it also has a lot of phones that are stylish and small and good looking not like other brand phones when you flip em open its like covers your whole face. there best phones are the ngage,6600/6620,7610,36xx which are all unique and i never saw another phone company building these kind of unique phones. other companys build phones that already have been built. nokia builds phones that no one thinks about and still people buy it. but they take a lot of risk by doin that so its unsure if customers will buy their phones.

I totally agree. I can't understand where people come across and actually think that Motorola, or phone from any other maker are actually cool or unique. It boggles my mind. Yeah, I want a phone that looks like my boring old dad's phone!! I do agree that Nokia missed a huge segment of it's user base by arrogantly failing to include clamshells designs in their portfolio, BAD NOKIA! But you can't say that and in the same breath say their existing portfolio is uninspired or boring, give me a break. Anyone that makes a statement like that is uneducated and uninspired themselves. Nokia's portfolio, even without flips, in broad, divers, and certainly inspired. And yes, Nokia is coming out with quite a few flips this year that are going to kick Mot...

I have just bought the new Nokia 1100 and I am very impressed. Its cheap, has a black and white screen so you can see it in the sun, (where people get off on colour screens I wil never know,?) and you can phone people with it. Isnt that all you need from a PHONE. The only gripe I do have with it is that it doesnt have a ring ring tone, all the tones on it are stupid gullible student melodies, a good ring is out fashion now.

So am I. 😁

The only think wrong with a nokia is the complete lack of customiztion of shortcuts, and moderatly poor battery life. The world looks and laughs at people with flippy jobbies. A real phone is a bar, and there are some really tiny ones. Nokia makes some awsome flippers though. If you all want to point fingers, look at samsung, people think that thin is a good, but they are all ugly, and uniform.

That must be the reason why Nokia is the number one handset manufacturer in the world. They currently own between 30-35% marketshare of all phones sold. The closest competitor, which is Motorola, only owns approx. 15%. Obviously Nokia is doing something correct.

😕 well i have been using NOKIAS for over 6 yrs and all were great from the i think 618,252,5100,6200,3300 and i have currently the 3586i. this is a nice phone not to small ,buttons are good, bulit in EXTENDABLE ANTENNA(all phone should have one )good features louder than hell.there no camera and you need to cable to download EMS stuff and games.
BUT the battery life on this model SUCKS so bloody bad.i have tried 3 phones and 2 batteris and its horrible .tops 1 hour 50 mins.and after 4-5 charges it may get 1 1/2. i called NOKIA was told to turn of the wallpaper background and the GPS since its not used ,still no good.for get about it. i only charge it after its completely drained .my 6185i i could talk to almost 3 1/2 hours on that .and sta...

The best thing about Nokia's is the user-friendly interface. I don't care how advanced a user is, they do not want to have to go through 50 menus to get where they need to be. To be honest, I'm really not the biggest Nokia fan (due to phones currently lacking great color screens), but Nokia is going to be rolling out an entirely new line of phones that support 16-bit color (65,536 colors) which will definitely change my perspective on that aspect as well.

From Candy bar To Clamshell
From Yahoo! News...
full story:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ibd/2004041 ... »

To combat Samsung, Nokia will start offering the flip-open "clamshell" phones already common in Samsung models. Nokia plans to release six clamshell models by year's end.

Nokia hasn't released a clamshell phone in five years. Most of its phones offer "candy bar" design.

Carpenter says Nokia's candy bar design has grown tired. Even as Nokia packed features like video games and music players on phones, consumers preferred clamshells with color screens and cameras.

You know what? I have had nokia phones for 3 years or more and they offer exceptional performance and easy to use menus with many options. Motorolas make it so complicated because their menu options are not well labelled and I work in customer care for ATT Wireless and SO MANY customers have so many difficulties simply accessing the voice mail setup in a Motorola, regardless of model, and virtually no problem with the nokias. So many people have complained about their flip phones, they are nice, but simply a trend currently happening in the marketplace and they offer no distinct advantage over "candybar" design, (except idiots do not have to learn how to use keypad lock)

I also happen to thing Nokia makes the best damn phones out there. I work customer care for Cingular and I have owned Samsung, Moto, Sony Ericsson, and Nokia. Nokia by far is the better phone. My nokia's ALWAYS work, and they are easy to use. PLUS nokia is lightyears ahead of everyone else in the design dept. Flips are OK but Just look at the V600 compared to the Nokia 6230 or 7610... do you think i'm going to give up Nokia's ease of use and lack of software bugs, just so I can use a FLIP? I think NOT. That's what keyguards are for.

Nokia can do several things that my friend's LGVX4400 can not do.
1) Delete message waiting indicator
2) Add voice tags that actually work.
(LG says "did you say 'bob'" when you really said "mortimer")
3) Restrict individual numbers from calling you or being called
4) Use a 2.5 mm headset
5) Make and recieve calls while in a leather case.
6) Have customized face-plates.
7) Shoot death-ray lazers out to kill my enemies.
Nokia is wonderful.

Get over the candy bar thing bud. Flips suck regardless. But that's my opinion. So shut up and talk about something else worth talking about. The battle between candy bar style and clamshell designed phones will go on forever. The truth of it all is that flips will not stand the test of time because candy bar style phones will evolutionize into much smaller and compact phones. Slide phones are already out there and will last longer than clamshell style phones. So why would anyone buy a clamshell then? Nokia rules!!! 🤣

I have to give it up to Nokia. I am not a big fan of Nokia, I am an SE guy myself. I agree that Nokia is one of the best phones to have being a cell phone newbie. Nokia has had so many home runs and technological innovations you have to give them there props. The cell market wouldn't be where they are today without Nokia. That said, Nokia is like the dad of cell phones, reliable, but behind the times and trying way to hard to be cool.

The only kudos I give to Nokia would be that they are EASY TO PROGRAM. Being a Care Rep somewhere in the world, I have found Nokia to be the easiest phone to program compared to Motorola.

Nokia's take about 5 minutes to program a Nokia, where it takes anyway from 10 mins to 2 1/2 hours to program a motorola, depending on the user.

Nokia is the closest thing to Western Electric I've seen in mobile technology. Their phones work and they last. The only majorly bad Nokia I ever encountered was the 1260/2260. I don't know how you can say this unless you're on the hunt for the blingphone. I'm so sick of people on the hunt for the blingphone. So let me see...

My takeon mobile manufacturers:

-Motorola - complicated software and the most difficult programming due to the time sensitive feature, the bane of customer care anywhere. Motorola also made an entire line of wildly popular phones that had irreplacible antennae when damaged. They also perpetrate numerous software bugs onto the public.

- LG/Touchpoint - budget crap, nuff said.

- Kyocera - see LG/Touchpo...

HOWEVERE... WHAT KIND OF JERK OFF INSULTS NOKIA. OBVIOSLY THIS GUY IS OBLIVIOUS TO TE EXPERIENCE CENTERS, NOKIA'S CONTRIBUTION TO SYMBIAN AND NOT TO MENTION BLUETOOTH. Oh you are completely correct.

I would much rather have a phone that looks really COOL on my desk while it is searching for signal instead of a NOKIA that rings when someone calls me. 🙄

I have had Motos, Kyoceras, Audiovoxes, etc....and NOTHING gets a signal in my office but a NOKIA.

My 6585 is not COOL or CUTE (although I did find a pink snap-on cover for it at the mall to brighten it up a little); but.....my bottom line is, when one of my kids gets sick at school, my little phone lights up and I can actually talk to someone. I couldn't do that with any other brand.

So....some day you will grow up and see a phone as a tool to keep you in touch for important things instead of a status symbol or a toy.

WOW WOW WOW

Nokia by FAR is the most advanced mobile phone maker.
HELLOOOO Symbian OS, MMS

It is even one of the best world renowned brands right after/before apple (not sure after/before). Think about most new ideas and designs in phones, mostly they were all started by Nokias design team.

Slider phones - first introduced by Nokia 7650
Camera -First introdued worldwode by Nokia 7650
Icon menu - again Nokia 7650
Using textures - Nokia 8850/90
Communicators - Nokia 9000

If you want a "regular" clamshell go get a Motorolla or yet another korean phone which you cant tell apart.

The brands you could tell far away are either Nokia or Sony Ericsson, other than that you wouldnt be able to tell whether its moto, samsung or LG....

I work for a cell phone service provider, and Nokia's are about the only brand of phone that I never have problems out of. And that's saying something. I have at least one problem out of every other manufacturer. I own two Nokia's myself, and love them

Also, I'm a network tech. And I choose Nokia phones because I know from experience they have awesome chipsets. they are about the only mfg'er not using Qualcomm chipsets (I work for a CDMA provider).
