buying phones on e-bay

i am thinking of buying a sprint trreo650 on e-bay but i do not know if my insurance will cover this phone because of it not being bought from sprint, anyone know if the insurance will cover it?

It will not cover it.

Yeah it will, we don't know (or care) for that matter where the phone came from at Asurion. The only stipulation for coverage is that the phone cannot be damage already and that it must be within 30 days of its activation. As long as you tack on the insurance within 30 days of activating your phone with Sprint it will be covered.

OK, this covers Sprint. What about Cingular?

Can't help you there. I don't know about the exact rules of Cingular's coverage. It's probably the same, but you're best bet is to call in and ask an agent.

yep, when you do the esn swap, make sure that the person performing the swap adds TEP(Total Equipment Protection), or you can call customer care, and they can connect you to the company that we contract our insurance out to, and they will walk you through adding on the insurance. it's easiest to go into a store(make sure that it's corporate owned) and have a consultant do the swap for you there... that way, they should be able to give you a receipt that shows what all they did.

Best thing to do is call the insurance company directly since they're the underwritters of the policy.
