Sprint has confirmed to Phone Scoop via email that it will be waiving mail-in rebates for an unspecified length of time. Spokesperson Stephanie Vinge wrote, "Sprint has temporarily replaced mail-in rebates with instant savings in participating Sprint stores and on Sprint.com. The change [will begin on] March 27 and will continue for an unspecified time." By waiving the rebates, customers will pay less out-of-pocket at the cash register for new devices.

Demise of rs.

It is official rs and bb no longer have any reason to sell wireless since corporate stores and 3rd party stores now have a level playing field.
Other then the fact that there is still money to be made? They still make a profit on the sales of the phone, not to mention they will make some upfront money not having to do the rebates themselves. The truth of the matter is very few people actual...

Very Aggresive Move.

Any company regardless of industry, makes 😡 money on MIRs. The initial payout of a product goes into an account to earn interest on the dollar.

By Sprint eliminating this practice, they are sacrificing a respectable amount of added income on handsets.

I hope individuals realize how much Sprint is sticking thier necks out to prove they are a worthy choice.

I wonder if the third party retailers (RadioShack, Best Buy, Walmart, et cetera) are going to suffer, as the primary benefit to going to them was the fact that they skipped the mail in rebates.

Well, I guess I'll let you know how it goes..
...
Back when iPCS was around we were able to offer this exact same thing to our customers, and it helped, and since the buyout of iPCS, we had the ability to take away the MIR on data plans only. This helped out soooo much when competing against the nati...

I love this. I know if I wasn't able to get the instant rebate from Best Buy, I would have really considered my decision to switch to Sprint or to upgrade my phone.

Right now, I've been going to Sprint to look at the phones, ask questions, and get...

Best Buy includes the rebate already into the price. But nevertheless this is a great idea for Sprint to do.

Disgruntled past/preset Sprint Customers

I have been watching these posts not only on this topic but about Sprint in general and I have to say that all the posts are from customers past and present who for the most part have not gotten what they demanded or they don't pay their bills. Yes there are customers with legitimate issues but mostly from customers who feel they "deserve" what they demand. As a Sprint employee/customer myself and proud to be one all I can say for those of you out there that don't like Sprint for whatever reason, stop living in the past get over it and move on. It's just a though but it's my thought........thank you so much.
You're why our C-SAT bombed and we started bleeding customers years ago. Statements like "get over it" are not the way to win over a customers opinion.

Please keep your thoughts to yourself.
...
No actually our C-Sat has improved and I am very good with customers and treat each one equally but do not agree with the negativity posted about us. I was speaking about specific customers who have delusions of grandeur and sense of privalege not ear...

are there any big negative points for the price / quality level you get from sprint?

i know its not perfect but its my choice and opinion
How about their online customer care and sales. They are great too.
Yes. I do have a negative. While Sprint has made an enormous turn back to being the viable network they were noted for, old management soured their reputation by implementing every bad decision possible.

To clarify and remove this albatross around...

Translation--

--'we suddenly realize AT&Tmobile and Verizon are about to control 80% of the market, so it's time we start fighting for our life.'
Actually, thats nto what this means at all. If you pay attention every nine months or so Sprint does this. Especially when they are about to get new phones. This is a good way for them to clear out some merchandise and find out how much people are ...

Indefinitely (for an unspecified amount of time)

Maybe it's just me but this seems like a false title. In the title it is implied that mail in rebates will be gone forever, but in the article it is stated very clearly that they are gone "for an unspecified amount of time." This could confuse some readers. It may be a good idea to change the title to reflect that there is at least a possibility that they may return.
"indefinitely", do you?
...
It is not for an "unspecified" amount of thime. The MIR will be instant 3/27/11-4/16/11. It's a promotion we are running and promotions are for specific amounts of time, and if it were for "unspecified" amount of time we would promoting it as such. Pl...

Finally!

Now over all the reasons to come buy from me, Sprint adds one more. No more (well for a few weeks) customers buying RS and BB phones and expecting help from us because "The Shack" didn't know a damn thing about there phone. I am gonna sell the SH*T out of phones for 2 weeks and instead of doubling my pay over RS and BB im going to quadruple it. Have fun getting paid $9/hr to give away phones RS right next to me!
Absolutely correct. If rs and bb didn't have a distinct price advantage they wouldn't sell a phone.

until april 16

wish it was indefinitely... but unfortunately not =(
Our info says until April 16th, but it's just as possible this is only because that's when the current planogram ends. It may go on longer if Sprint has said there's no end date.

Agreed - I wish they would all do their rebates this way all the time!
