Kineto is porting their Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) software to additional operating systems. Building on their previously announced Pocket PC software and inclusion on the BenQ P50, Kineto has announced a port to Microsoft Smartphone. In conjunction with this announcement, Chi Mei announced it is building a GSM/GPRS EDGE Smartphone with Wi-Fi that will include Kineto's UMA client. Kineto also announced it has joined the Symbian Platinum program and intends to port to Symbian-based Operating Systems as well. The technology is in trials with both European and US carriers. Kineto representatives have told PhoneScoop they believe the first commercial launch will be here in the States.
