If It Were'nt For Carrier Hype...
If it were not for carrier hype more people could grasp the concepts of "mode" versus "band"... or rather how mode and band relate to one another for our purposes... ****! I remember selling Bell Atlantic when they went digital... first they waffled as ATT deployed TDMA in their feeble attempt to address their capacity issues... Then BAM adopted CDMA (only after Sprint already made their commitment to Qualcom)It was then that "digital" was single band dual mode... but the phones were labeled "Digital"... These were single band dual mode phones... and the carrier labeled them digital... And so the the story goes that the necessity for the carriers through acquisition and/or merger to adopt multi-band multi-mode phone came to be... Subsequent...

Um, did you just say AT&T Wireless adopted CDMA? No they didn't 😕 They used TDMA up until GSM has come out, which they now're ramping up.

...but actually, BAM = Bell Atlantic Mobile, which later became Verizon Wireless. Read maniac's post again with that in mind. 😉
