They look the same, but what's the real difference?

It doesn't look like there's a difference at all. According to info on this site, it's the same phone. My boss at the Alltel store in Virginia says the 815, which we still sell, is close to end-of-life status. I would like to see Motorola come out with a similar phone without the old charging port, rather the mini-USB port. It could be a very good thing for a lot of folks who don't want RAZR's.

The only difference between the 816 and 815 is that the 816 has Push to talk. I personally like the 815 better, because the ptt button replaces the external speakerphone button.......

For Alltel it is E815. For other carriers like Cellular One it would be the E816. It is the same phone.

Slightly different.

The e816 is exclusively made for Amp'd Mobile, and MVNO on VZW's network.

It has PTT where the E815 doesn't. That is only real difference. And the obex is diabled because it runs a modified vzw firmware.

Hey, I know the answer to this one!!!

Alltel will still be providing cellular service at the end of your contract and Ampd wont. 🤣 😁 😲
