I am looking to do a shared plan and am not sure who to go with. Who would you go with and why? I am currently with VZW and have a broken phone so it is decision time. I am VERY unhappy with the selection of phones available at VZW. I am looking for a non-flip phone and it seems like Cingular has a great selection. Not sure if it is worth the $175 term fee though. Just need it for the basics, I live in the Cleveland, OH area. I appreciate any help you guys can give. Thanks!

I personally have Alltel, and am very happy with the level of customer service that I receive. Plan ranges are excellent for multi-line users, and the phones aren't that bad. For a non-flip, I'd suggest the Nokia, it's got everything but a camera and memory expansion.
Service is top notch, and there is only one place that I've been that I don't have service (oddly enough it's in one of the tunnels locally, but in the twin tube it works fine. My radio reception is the same, but flipped, go figure).
The phone selections aren't going to be the greatest for non-flip phones, but if you're willing to get a flip phone, the E815 is outstanding, and the Samsung U520 is nice.

Thanks for the info. Do you think any new phones will be out soon?

I have found Alltel & Verizon are equal in call quality, coverage, and reception..
Alltel has better pricing & more minutes when you add a 2nd line to your account.
I do a lot of conference calls, and MY Circle is a big help.
Cingular does not have the rural coverage that Verizon and Alltel have. Also, signal penetration when inside buildings is not as good as Alltel or Verizon.

What is your status with Verizon currently? Are you eligible to upgrade with them? Are you eligible for the New Every Two promotion credit for existing customers? If so then I would stay with Verizon. They should be getting the CDMA SLVR which is a thin non-flip. If you are out of contract with Verizon and your main deal is a non-flip phone then you may want to look hard at Cingular as they already have the SLVR. You will have to pay new activation fees, but it seems that you are unhappy with Verizon anyway. I do not believe that Alltel's phone selection is any better than Verizon's, however the My Circle plan is nice.
...
Okay. I see that you are still under contract. What exactly is wrong with your phone? I guess you do not have insurance on it? You should call Verizon and inquire about possibly purchasing a refurbished unit. It will likely be the same model as what you have and you can avoid termination fees with them and new activation fees with a new carrier.
...
Just FYI for OP, Alltel will also be getting the CDMA SLVR.....
...
I would never get a 815 or a 520 I have had them and they are total crap! The 815 is old and fat and the 520 is so skinny it breaks fast!

I'd stay w/ VZW. You know, look at the quarterly numbers. VZW always gets the highest post paid additions. With 70%+ in the US market penetration that means all the subs they're getting are ports from other carriers. There is a reason for that. If they're giving you crap for being only three days into service and your phone is broke and they won't give you another, call their retention dept. I, myself, am happy w/ Sprint. That's just me. The call quality is 10x better in my area than Cingy & VZW...

Things such as what works best where I work and live as well as how many other people do I know that I call regularly on the same network needs to factor into the equation.

Alltel's phone selection isn't the best. But the service quality and coverage and price is top notch.
The best phone is the Moto E815. The best non-flip phone for reception is the Nokia 2865i, but overall probably the Samsung U420 for everything else non-reception related is better the then the Nokia, don't bother with the other non=flips. The Samsung u520 is a pretty good phone. LG ax355 okay, and of course there is the KRZR and RAZR phones which are very good as well.
The 2865i is basic, solid phone. The u420 has some more features and is sleeker and more pocket friendly. The keypad slides out so it is easier to talk with. I think you would like either one.
Pricing can't be beat by Cingy or VZW. The coverage is in my opinion b...

I noticed the CDMA Motorola SLVR was mentioned above. Which is a pretty good bar phone. Alltel and Verizon will both be getting these.

I have 1 year left on my contract with verizon, so I think I may just get a phone off of ebay and wait it out. I am definitely going to switch to alltel when my contract with vzw is up. Hopefully by then they will have the slvr. That is the phone I really want. Thank you for all your help.
...
No problem! I think you'll like Alltel, good luck for the next year. 🙂
...
the slvr is already discontinued for cingular I know we already sold out our invtentory in our agent stores.....
...
That's what happens because GSM phones are often ahead of the curve because of the larger market share. The SLVR for alltel will have upgrades in software etc....it's not just gonna be the same one that came out with Cingular...
...
Forget all three of them! Go with Sprint, trust me you cant beat their sero plans!
$30 w/ no activation fee
Free Nights/Weekends @ 7
Free Power Vision/ Unlimited Internet
500 Anytime minutes Fair and Flexible
Call customer service and they can put you on a great shared sero plan.
Also you get all the phones for rebate price without sending in rebates!
Got my Moto Q for $200 flat.
Plus Sprint has prob the best call quality next to T-Mobile in Ohio.
...
For the same price as Sprint you get 400 more minutes and my circle. As far as call quality goes, I have heard the exact opposite. Sprint is not very good in the Cleveland area and T-Mobile completely blows. There is no one currently out there that can beat Alltel's prices. Sprint doesn't even come close.
...
Really....
Alltels circle plans start at 59.99 and up
and that doesn't include unlimited internet, picture, and video messaging
with sprint its $30
...

I don't give a crap about power vision or all axcess pass and I wasn't comparing single plans, I was doing shared plans. So, as explained previously Alltel is a far better deal than Sprint for shared plans. Thanks for your response, but I suggest when you are going to respond and make smart ass comments about comparing properly make sure you read and understand the original question. Also nights starting at 7 doesn't mean a thing to me because my circle more than cancels that out.

Hey dummy, I was supporting your cause here. You should learn to comprehend English properly.
...
There are SHARED Sprint Sero plans
and they blow everything else out of the water
...
They don't offer service in any state that I ever go to!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
Anyone got a zip code where Alltel DOES work?
...
Use zip code 59901. The zip code is for Kalispell, Montana. Alltel provides native service here in Montana, and I've used that zip code numerous times.
...
You should get out more 🙂
