i830

Finally had a chance to get some hands-on time with an i830 the other night. Damn, is it small! I was impressed all around with its size. The screen is nice too...very bright. The unit I got to fudge around with was the silver edition as well...and I've got to say that it's slick looking (although I have yet to see a copper model in person). How's the reception with this model? I've heard about problems with the i730 in the Howard Forums, although I never experienced any problems with Nextel's coverage when I was using their service (i95cl). Let me know.

My i90 Carbon Fiber would resume service earlier when re-entering the signal area... 1/4 mile earlier!

I do have an interesting observation though... When Sprint was going from 2.5G to 3G the phones all (except Sanyo) began to indicate lower RSSI... as if the new technology necessitated closer proximity of the handsets to the site to support faster data rates and the new method of modulation. Is this all part of grand plan I wonder? Is the implementation of the 6X technology to blame for a change in the standard?

This all comes to mind since all of our customers who borrow one of our test handsets to check out coverage (usually an i1000) don't get the same coverage from their new falcon phone when the get it...

Just an observation...
