I heard that Nextel will soon come out with promotional offers for loyal cutomers, to appease those of us who get pissed and can't understand why they always give the best deals to new subscribers, while shafting their longtime well paying subscribers.
Has anyone else heard anything about this, or is it just a rumor?

Nextel has nothing to do with the deal. Indirect dealers can sell phones for any price they like. Amazon will make a very small margin on the deal. I'd be willing to bet the rebate takes 10-12 weeks to process and if they find one thing wrong they will deny the rebate.
As a current customer you can upgrade your phone for the same price as a new customer.
