Does anybody have any info. on the Blackberry 8830? I talked with some people at the Nextel office and they said within a month the 8830 will be available with direct connect for Nextel. I live in Grand Rapids, MI and Nextel and Sprint have not merged yet due to $$ with a buyout!

I have not heard of the 8830 becoming DC for CDMA or iDen. There may be other Blackberrys with DC for CDMA and iDen in the future, but from what I know, it's not next month.

The reason why Nextel & Sprint have not merged in your area is not to do with money. In Grand Rapids your are a Sprint Affiliate market, your are is ran by a company called IPCS who owns the subscriber contracts, spectrum, & tower equipment. They leas the name form Sprint; Sprint provides the billing & cs for a cut of the profit. You may notice that sometimes they don't have the same plans or price points as bigger Sprint markets.
The Nextel store you visited may have been a partners store at one time & now is a corp Sprint store that cant sell sprint due to the affiliate agrements.
