In need of advice

Problematic

Nov 25, 2007, 9:26 PM
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm in a real bind.

I bought a 755p under the SERO plan about 7 weeks ago. The phone has been great with just a few unanticipated restarts and 2 mute outgoing calls (callee could not hear me) about 3 weeks ago. Last week, all calling functionality ceased on my 755. Wired headset and bluetooth are receive only, and the handset and speakerphone do not work at all.
I went to the sprint store and the best they offered me was to buy a new phone, go through treo's warranty dept, or pay out of pocket for a repair at the store. Stupid me did not buy insurance, since stupid me has been a cell user for over 9 years without a single equipment failure. I'm very easy on cellphones.
Obviously I'm not up ...

Hey, have a couple ideas for you..

First option is to do the treo warranty send in. This won't cost you anything since the phone is under warranty. The second step now is up to you, you can buy a cheap phone off ebay to hold you over. Or you could do what I would do. Go into best buy, or even Sprint, and buy a new treo Full Retail. You will have 30 days to "try the phone out"...and hopefully your original phone will be already returned to you by then. If it still is not returned, repeat the process.

You are not charged any restocking fee or anything by returning the phone after using it for 30 days.

A 2nd option is to try another Sprint store.. a lot of times one place will tell you no, and another down the street will be more cari...

here is my advice. the reason we offer ins is for this reason. instead of trying to screw sprint due to your mistake do what that first guy said to do. and when you get the new phone take the ins. DON"T BE A MORON the ins is like $7 bucks a month for TEP and only $50 deductable. if you don't get the ins. then get used to paying retail. or wait for 22 months then upgrade. don't mean to sound rude, but that is why we have the ins for you to use and that is also why we have the repair centers. those guys are trained to work on that stuff and if there is something they don't know how to do they have the resources at hand to learn

It's only $35 or $55 for a store to service you, depending on the issue. The manufacturer can take care of it for no $ but that takes longer, as you mentioned.

You're in an unfortunate situation and just have to choose which bullet to bite. As with most products, phone warranties don't cover inconvenience or loss of use. That's just a part of life.

The best way to avoid that with mobile phones is to keep a spare in a drawer at home. When I upgrade I keep my old phone for that purpose.
