Power Source Coverage

Help me if I'm wrong here but, according to Sprint's website Power Source Phones will only work when both an IDEN signal and a CDMA signal are present. I can undertand the DC not working if no IDEN signal is available but to have the voice side not work just because both signals are not available. How is this an improvement that would make anyone want to migrate to the Power Source phones? You ar worse off if this is true.

I doubt if it is true. The voice is CDMA so it has nothing to do with IDEN and as it is the other way around!

Just wondered. The info on the Sprint website is unclear and the CS reps don't seem to have a clear understanding of it either.

You have to be in an overlap coverage area for BOTH services to work. If you are in a PCS only area, the DC doesn't work, if you are in an iDEN only area, the phone part doesn't work.

But one or the other WILL work, depending on which signal you are receiving.

Were you a NEXTEL customer before having the power source? Which phone do you have? Are you pleased with the phone and the service?

Yes to both. This is hands-down the BEST Nextel phone I've ever owned! This phone not only has slightly better coverage than my regular Nextel's did, reception-wise, it blows them all away.

Get the extended battery, though. An absolute must!
