I'll say only this: Verizon has the more reliable network and vastly superior coverage.

I work for T-Mobile and have Verizon :p

I was a major Sprint phone-whore back when before the 8500 came out. I lied and got service at 16 :p that's how much I loved Sprint and the phones, always had the best phones and still do. But my point is that I was very knowledgable with CDMA and TDMA/GSM and at the time I would have told you that CDMA was far better and would be able to break it down and tell you why exactly it was. Now though, since I have moved on and use a Verizon phone as my personal line and work for T-Mobile and also use the phone they gave me, I don't see a difference in anything at all, with the exception that the T-Mobile Samsung phones are just as bug proned as the Sprint ones, can they get any right? The few things ...

I am not as knowledgeable as these other 2 posts, but I will tell you what I think.
I am with T-mobile now. I wish that I wasn't. If I could snap my fingers and make my contract go away, I would go to Verizon or Sprint. And maybe even AT&T (only because I've heard that they are really improving their technology, but who really knows unless you try it.) Sprint and Verizon are cdma and T-mobile is GSM. I'm not going to try to explain the difference because I am learning about them too, and besides, many of these other nice folks can fill you (and me) in. You just have to read a lot of posts here at Phonescoop. Anyway, where I live, T-mobile is very disappointing. When I am talking on the phone, it is quite often very sporadic. The voice cuts...

In my opinion, CDMA has flaws and so does GSM. Its really what you prefer and what is convenient for you. Also you have to take into consideration the primary location where the phone will be used. Some areas of the country, GSM is better than CDMA, vice-versa.

Ask some neighbors and locals in your area who have cellular service.

Its always good to hear first hand experience.

I really don't think there is one better than the other when it comes to cell phone companies because it will be different for each person.

From what I have heard, GSM allows the most talk time on your phone.. as in how long that battery will last. That's the perk that I've been hearing all the time but like some of these people, I am still learning more about GSM and CDMA.

But from all the people I know of who works at a cell phone place (not just T-mobile) have said how much Verizon sucks. I guess there's some shady places when it comes to Verizon from what I've been hearing but this is just stuff I have been hearing.

And I don't get many dropped calls.. but when I do, I don't even care because I think of it like the Internet. I ...

It used to be that CDMA voice quality was vastly inferior to GSM. Now, CDMA is pretty close to GSM and often you can't tell the diff.
Verizon has MUCH more coverage in outlying and rural areas. OTH, Verizon is MUCH more expensive. Double the price on lower end plans.
I am a heavy user. 3000 anytime minutes on T-M is $50. To buy that much time on Verizon would be about $200, as I recall. Coverage around the Bay Area is excellent on both systems.
Over 90% of my useage is to/from Ca. - so i can use a regional plan. A national plan would be about double - but still less than half of vzw. For my other 10% useage I have an ATT TDMA account on a national plan (TDMA - $40 for 700 minutes + N&W).

I work for T-Mobile and have a Verizon plan with the VX-6000, I like both and notice sound quality to be the same, a little more background noise with the E715 but other than that.... Verizon also has a tad bit better service in my area, but not that much different.
