I need some quick advice. I am getting ready to either renew my contract with Cingular or switch to T-mobile. My issue is with coverage I travel alot but most of my travels take me to California(both Southern and Northern),Colorado, and Massachusetts. I live in Texas. Can somebody out there offer there opinion on the quality of service(making and receiving calls) in these areas? Its not that I'm unhappy with Cingular, But I have a good friend who just went to work for T-Mobile and is asking me to make the switch. I currently use the Treo 650 which sucks as a phone but its a great PDA, He has offered me the Blackberry 7105T for 149.99. Is the Blackberry a good unit? I know that phone quality is usually an individual preference, but I have nev...

I live in San Diego. Your coverage with Cingular will be the same as T-Mo. You need to switch to Verizon if you want the absolute best coverage in SoCal.

I have a BB 7100. It's a decent phone and e-mail device, but the PDA functionality is weak. In fact, I still carry my ol' Palm Vx for a PDA. The BB is more stable than the Treo, but I still prefer the Treo over the BB.

BTW, you should get your Treo unlocked by Cingular before you switch. You'll need your Treo unlocked in order to use it on T-Mo's network. You'll also have an easier time selling your Treo if it is unlocked.

Thanks for the input. I was with VZW and your right the service area was great. But VZW would not accept the fact that the TREO 650 was a really bad phone!!! I had 3 of them, they would reset automatically, lose the BT connection, or I would get a humming in the speaker. I paid them 400.00 FOR THE UNIT. They were good and gave me only new units not refurbs. But all the units did the same thing this was all within a 6 month period. I finally told VZW I give up, just please give me a standard handheld (w/ bt) I need that function, they told me I would have to buy another handset, they offered me 100 bucks, but the phone I WOULD NEED TO BUY was 300.00 they would not offer a discount I had to pay full retail. I refused to give VZW another dime, ...

Go to t-mobile.com and go to coverage and use the personal coverage check. You can get a very detailed idea of what kind of service you should expect to get. Hope this helps!
It's been my experience in SoCal (the week I was there) that reception was great.
I may be biased because I work for tmo but who knows?
