I'm going to be going to Austrailia in about 3 months and will be gone for 6 months. Since u can only suspend service for 90 days, is their any other way to not lose my service w/out switching to the $19.99 plan?

Thanks

Why don't you just activate WorldClass Roaming service and use your phone in Austrailia for only $1.49/min. It's not that expensive but T-Mobile has a new price list because they are changing there rates on Aug 1,2005 so after Aug 1 the new rate will be $0.34 cents.

What is the "authority" (source) for the new pricing? If that's the case, then it would appear everyone would be getting the same intl. roaming rates we old timers have.

Good call LilShorty. Any ideas why the rates are going up?

As someone else pointed out, these are not roaming rates, but simply (EXPENSIVE) LD calling rates.
I am grandfathered in under old roaming rates. Incoming in Australia last month was about 30 cents/min. Doesn't matter which carrier i was on. This is ONE FIFTH of what customers since fall of 02 pay. Calls back to the states cost as little as 70 cents/min - depending on carrier - half of T-M's rates.
Local calls were 30 cents as i recall.
The rates for us for outgoing vary by carrier - so i simply switched to the lowest priced carrier depending on time and destination. Newer roamers pay $1.49 a minute no matter which carrier.

For intl. LD calling from here - a call to a land line costs 3 cents/min. - not the 34 cents ch...

Well, policy only allows a seasonal suspension for up to 90 days, and only once per year. However, it does also state with coach or sr. rep approval, we can extend that time. Pretty much it's just looked at on a case-by case basis. I'd say call in and ask...couldn't hurt.
