For New customers (like every cell phone company) have a 35$ activation fee. Tmobile has one and it will show up on your first month's bill. Enjoy the new unlimited Rate plans. They are awesome.

For me to change from my Family 1000 to the 750 Family Get More (whatever you call it) is gonna cost me $70...just to change a plan.

Fleaance, you're whack!

Yes for a family plan you have to pay 2 of them max. No plan is the best fit for everyone. If you're old plan works better for you, nobody is forcing you to change...

I guess you don't comprehend...the new plan with less minutes works better for me. I want to change and would in a heartbeat EXCEPT for the $70 charge, which is simply for TMO's sh!ts and giggles...

$70 bucks to save $10 a month, I break even after 7 months. I should break even and come out ahead on day one.

I guess no one at TMO gets it at all.

No, I guess everybody at T-Mobile is thinking big picture savings. You just said yourself you break even after 7 months. After that its saving money every single month. I could understand all the complaining if it took 2 years to break even, but it doesn't. If you're so upset about it, then don't change your plan. Keep paying more every month, nobody is forcing you to change anything.

I don't mind donating $15 to the local high school to get a discount card that I can use to save money at various merchants. But why should I have to buy a coupon from T-Mobile?

Maybe someone can explain what the charge is for and then maybe it'll make sense. Was it that much harder for t-mobile to come up with these plans than it was for every single other plan they've ever come up with? Are there travel expenses for the reps in order to change the plan? Is there physical labor that has to be done to your account in which it's costing T-Mobile to switch our plan? Equipment that has to be purchased and added? What are my $35 fees going towards? I've NEVER had to pay to switch my plan so to me, it's just a rip off fee that is causing me t...

Tell that to your bank lol. Here's a great lesson in life, nothing in life is free. T-Mobile, and any company in any industry for that matter, doesn't have to justify what they charge, and 99.99% of them don't. If you don't like it, you don't have to take advantage of it. Simple as that.

Shareholders don't care what fees they charge either. They care about the bottom line, that's it. Shareholders, in general, like higher charges... it means they make more money.

Yeah, well my bank is known for not being fair. Kinda the way T-Mobile seems to be going with fees for this and fees for that and fees to SWITCH YOUR RATE PLAN??? What company does that? Surely not any of the top 3 (ya know, the same ones T-Mobile is planning on crushing with these rate plans/fees).

We all know that we're not being forced to change plans, as you put it. We just want to know why the company many of us have stuck with and defended all these years are screwing us with BS administrative fees.

I'm just curious, why are you for these fees?

Because I'm bright enough to see the savings. If you pay a one time fee but then you are saving every month, only a tool would bitch and complain so much. In a perfect world, yeah, everything would be cheaper/free. But its not a perfect world. These plans are half the cost of VZW/ATT, so a one time fee vs paying double. And for most, granted not all, current TMo customers, it is significant savings as well.
Hmmm... let me see, I guess you guys would rather pay double. And nodody's stopping you. If you can't see the forest for the trees, that's not T-Mobile's or anyone's fault for that matter.

It really shouldn't take 7 months to start saving money on your phone bill. If it's a significant savings, maybe, such as a company sending their support to India. Yeah, it'll cost a pretty decent chunk of change at first but those savings will/or should turn into profit later on. But the average existing customer won't save more than what, 50 to a 100 bucks in that 12 month period? And someone hoping to save that much money might not have the spare 35 or 70 dollars lying around in order to get those "special savings" at the end of next year.

Now explain my situation. I'd be ADDING to my bill. Why would/should I spend $70 to pay more on my phone bill? Would I get more? Yeah. Do I NEED more? Nope. The rep tried to talk me into the lower pl...

I guess maybe some of you fell out of the stupid tree and then hit every branch on the way down. Heres the bottom line. If you will save money monthly you WILL save money in the long run. Its like getting a oil change and doing all the maintance for your car so you know it wont cost you a lot in the long run if it were to brake down. Yes its not fun paying a little more now but let's think BIGGER.. Maybe its hard for you to think about next month or the month after. There are people out there saving hundreds of dollars per month. Start thinking about things here.. If you decided to go to Att or VZW and try to get unlimited calling how much would it cost you? Think about it. Do some research. Is it really something to consistenly cry and bitc...

I don't think most people complaining about the fee are thinking about switching carriers so there's no need to compare rate plans. We already paid activation fees with T-Mobile and don't want to pay these fees again just to change our rate plan.

Some are going to save quite a bit of money (which may make the fees worth it), some will save just a few dollars each month (which could take more than half a year to start saving money), and some, like myself, would be paying more each month after switching (why should I have to pay to raise my bill?).

Bottom line, it's a BS fee that we don't want to pay. And the typical response from those who are all for all the BS fees that are being tacked on, "nobody is making you switch", has been he...

With ATT theres FREEDOM to change your rate plan ANYtime without some stupid charge or extention of contracts.

I very much want the Nokia N900 (UNLOCKED of course) and have researched Tmo, but lack of freedom really bothers me, I've been with ATT nearly 8yrs, and have been contract free for 4yrs, during which time I have made modifications to my acct without being charged and without contract extensions.

Lack of freedom is what's holding me back from becoming a Tmo customer.

Just call in regular customer care and ask if you're eligible for a discount. Or even easier, go to a corporate store with a paycheck stub/name tag/business card and they can check if you're eligible as well.

This $35 fee has been blown way out of proportion. At least in Telesales here is how it works. If you are on one of the legacy-grandfathered plans and want to move to the new Even More Plus plans it will cost you $35. Everyone needs to realize that moving to a "Plus" plan voids your contract. What T-Mobile is doing here is let you break your contract to stay with us and only charging you $35 instead of $200. T-Mobile is actually doing something nice for people and are being burned at the stake because of all the misinformation and over-reaction.

If you just signed up with a Even More plan and went to a different Even More plan, than there should be no fee at all. You would be subject to a contract extension. If you went from an Even More to an Even More Plus plan, you would be subject, at this point, to the standard termination fee. The $35 dollar fee was for the customers that had been on plans prior to the plan changes.

About the earlier question, in Telesales it is either two year contract or no contract. What you should do when deciding about the plans is work out the savings between the two plans per month. Once you have that figured out figure the cost difference for the phone between the two. Lastly figure out how many months it would take to pay for the phone with the plan savings.
