Curve Question
So I called and spoke with Customer care - they are saying that without a data plan, the Wi-Fi doesn't work? Can someone clarify that. I didn't know you could turn off wi-fi. Thanks in advance!

Without the data service, you're not supposed to be able to access the internet using a wifi connection. You can still connect to wifi signals for voice calling, but you shouldn't be able to access the internet. There are some people that can still access the internet using wifi though so I would say just try it out if and when you get the phone.

Doesn't make sense. How can some people use Wifi and some not? I would think a feature built in the phone either works or doesn't.

Rob im disappointed in you......lol
You can access WIFI as long as it is unsecured or you know the password. You have to have the data service on to access the T-Mobile Hotspot locations for data.

So, as long as I have access to wifi, I would have emails sent to me and can do all the other stuff... see that's what I thought... sounded odd that you had to have the data package for that.
When we were in the store looking at upgrades, all of the sales people were complaining about the new policy... is it being felt everywhere?

About the new data policy? Eh......
I think its a better thing. I feel if you get a BB or Sidekick you should get a data plan.

I think its a good thing for the company. People may complain about it, but its a business, not a charity. Some carriers (Verizon that I know of, not sure on all of them though), already have this policy. Carrier's take a really big hit on subsidizing data phones, they need to make their money up somehow. And to tell you the truth, it will actually improve customer satisfaction. Anybody who has encountered a Sidekick customer who doesn't have the data plan knows what I'm talking about.
Plus, these data devices now have instant rebates instead of mail-in, so that's a nice plus!
