Is the data feature required on the Sidekicks? Sidekick ID and Sidekick Slide specifically.

it's not required. None of their features are required. I will say the Sidekicks are basically useless without the data feature because it needs it to function correctly, but you can still use the phone without it.

If you have a Mail-In Rebate, you will want to have the data feature for atleast a month to qualify for it. After that you can take it off.

You do need it in order to save youself from stress. If you do not add it, every time you turn on and off your phone everything will be erased. Your contacts will still be on your sim if you saved them to your sim but you will have to load them back onto your phone. The way the sidekick works: everything is saved to your myT-mobile account. If there is no way for your phone to make contact with that web-site via the internet package then none of your stuff will be saved. When I say evrything I mean Contacts, calender, notes, aim, photos, your phone will be put back to a clean slate.

Its the best package T-Mobile has to offer, take advantage! 🙂

Sidekick data is the best plan out there. Not only do you get unlimited data transfer, you get unlimited text/picture messages, IM/AIM, and auto sync to your tmobile account so you have all your pics, phone book and calender on your phone and also online whenever you need it. Its like the new service "mobile me" that apple will introduce but they charge $99 a year for that service plus $30 to att for there data and you don't even get the unlimited texts with it. Someone tell Steve Jobs that he is about 5 years late on the technology... 🙂

True, pretty much, for an unounced plan, however at&t offers incredibly faster data speeds and tmobile does not on any current sidekick.

Actually you can get the sidekick with the sidekick plan only for 29.99 a month and any phone calls would be 20 cents a minute. W/O phone calls this breaks down to 1 dollar a day plus of course monthly taxes.

For individuals which do 91% texting and/or internet this is the best plan out there, period. I remember a coworker getting it actually.

but every time you want to use your phone you will need to use a certain combination of keys. Why you would want it without the data plan is beyond me seeing as how cheap it is compared to the features being separate or compared to the same features on another company like at&t where it would cost you 45 dollars for what tmobile does for 20.

Hope this helps.

Its one of the best offers out for any full keypad phones and its not as slow as it seems today i was work(radio shack) playing with the at&t centro demo and the data on that crap is super slow compared to the sidekick slide.

The issue isn't if I SHOULD. The reason I ask is because we need to trim anything unnecessary off all the bills for a while.

Thanks for the responses 😎
