From the article:
HUNDREDS of jobs at T-Mobile in Britain are likely to go after the mobile phone company's German parent ordered a 10% job cull.

Deutsche Telekom is looking to cut 2,200 jobs at T-Mobile across Europe in an attempt to reduce costs of €150m (£104m).

Up to 650 jobs are feared to be going in Britain and as many as 1,200 jobs are likely to be lost in Germany.

About 3,500 workers based at the company's headquarters in Hatfield, Herts, have already been told of a 'save for growth' programme under which the company will need to reshape its business rather than chase customer growth. T-Mobile employs a further 3,000 in call centres.

Yes it is important to a certain extent, but this is in Britian. It wouldn't alarm me one bit. Sorry for those who got the pink slip. It's business.

And here I was hoping the first statement you made about the situation just happened to sound callous (sp?). Any other time someone talks up your employer's parent company, you're all giddy. Why the trite reply?

Not trite, just my honest opinion. I'm not going to walk around fearing for my job because of a strategic move overseas. If it happens here, it happens. My motto in life: Just keep movin' forward. Life goes on.

Simple.

Especially since the UK has a civilized system of unemployment that will keep these people from going under until they can find new jobs...

Oh, inadequate? Badly managed? Tailored to suit the needs of business but not the needs of those it purports to help? Feel free to pick your own term.
