Retail store reps earn...?
JDigital said:What's going on with your current job?
I'm thinking about going to work at a T-Mobile direct store that is opening in my area soon, and I'm very curious about what kind of compensation I might expect. I already have looked at all of the benefits, but I have no idea what the actual dollar amounts are that somebody might bring home. I realize that this is personal information, so I would appreciate it if any of you would be willing to maybe even give me a ballpark estimate. I would also love to know what the hourly wages are and how the commission structure works. Thanks to anybody willing to share. đ

I work in a family business (my family), and they just really can't afford to pay me what I'm worth and what I need to be earning. Plus business is a little slow on all fronts right now, and the wireless end is doing okay, but not enough to really keep everything else afloat for long.
It's pretty good pay but it really depends on your market. Some markets make more than others.

Come on, Starr... can't you just give me a general idea, hypothetically? I grossed about 30K last year, along with some fairly limited benefits... I'm assuming that I could do better, right? I don't want a full compensation schedule, just some info on how it works and what might be likely. đ

Jeez, it's not like you'd get demoted for giving someone a ball park figure of how much someone could project to make as a sales rep.
Paranoia, paranoia, everybody's comin' to get ya! đ
if it makes you feel better:
part-timers can make 25-35K
full timers can make 25-40K (ive seen reps make up to 60K)
remember this is all relative to the market so it varies

well I worked a few years in the corporate world so I know what egg shells to walk on.
P.S. Guess which manager runs inventory twice a year at our location (and will be doing so tonight)? I'll give you a guess. He's a regular on this board, and often doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.
I wonder if hes cute too.

Hmm I wonder who that could be... is it the same guy with the great sense of humor and wit too?

BTW Starr... thanks for the general estimate! How come full-timers barely make any more than part-timers? And also, does T-Mobile have an in-store position for something like a "lead sales rep" who isn't quite management, but makes more money than the regular reps?
As a sales associate, your lookin at about 25-30k a year, assistant manager 35-45k, store manager 50-60k, and regional anywhere from 70-100k. Benefits are not bad either, medical, dental, vision, and life. The company i work for is the largest indirect t-mobile dealer in teh country and i'm sure not every indirect has as good of a pay structure.
