The iPhone Killer!!!!

choppyd

Mar 31, 2008, 1:53 PM
I was speaking to a T-Mobile rep last Friday because my Wing was breaking down again. She told me that T-Mobile is testing a handset right now that she thinks is 10 times better than the iPhone...if it passes all the tests it should hit the market in late October?

Does anyone have any news around this? I've got to tell you the iPhone is sweet but I hate the idea of going to Cingular for a phone...

I'm sure it's the phone that Sprint is going to get in June. The CDMA version is called m800 by Samsung. I forget what the GSM version is labeled as. The phone is available abroad. You can view the phone on YouTube. Just type in new Samsung phones on the search engine.

no phone will be an "iPhone killer" because by the time someone releases that phone, Apple will have a new iPhone.

It's just not gonna happen. No phone will kill the iPhone. It's become a stupid label for "imitation of the iPhone".

I'm not an Apple fanboy or anything, I use a dell and have a Sanyo phone.

It's the same as when the Razr came out. after that there were phones that were suppose to be the "razr killer."
three years later the razr is still around (unfortunately) and it's single best selling phone ever.
its kinda hard to "kill" a phone that has or had so much hype and advertising.

exactly. stupid razr.

i wish I could singlehandedly put an end to the "iphone killer" phrase.

what's funny is that for having the best selling phone of all time, you'd think motorola would have a more stable company...weird.

Well they didn't change their phone concepts after the razr came out. the kept almost the same form factor, same stupid gangsta names for the phones, and made small improvements.

until most recently have they changed much, whith the razr2, rokr E8, and the z9.

If coming out with the next big things was that easy, people would be doing it all the time. The RAZR was a fluke. The StarTac was a well built phone.

so it's safe to say the iPhone is a fluke as well?

The iPhone has the power of Apple's marketing department. I don't particularly like Apple or its products, but their marketing capabilities are great. The iPhone never would have succeeded if it weren't piggy backing on the popularity of the iPod, iMac, iRack, and iWhateverproductApplereleasesnext.

It's funny how you said IRack because it really bugs the hell out of me at how people prnounce Iraq and Iran. It's as though they are copying the way the president is pronouncing, which leaves me with one question, why would they copy him. He's the person who pronounces nuclear, noocaler. Iraq is e(not eeeee)rock, and Iran is e(not eeeee)ron.

There are and have been many phones that are and will continue to be significantly better than the iPhone. Just take the Nokia N95 or the Nokia N96. There is also the Sony Ericsson W960 as well as on the other side of the entertainment spectrum the K850i. Most phones however that are better than the iPhone are only available overseas. Pretty much all US phones are trash because of the restrictions that all the carriers put on the handset manufacturers, the only one that made a deal to not be controlled of course is the iPhone, where AT&T pretty much sold it's soul to Apple to have that right.

Number one, you can get the iPhone unlocked with T-Mobile anyway which is the best choice. Just find a phone unlocking store in your area, they do it quickly around here and usually support the phone through any additional updates as well. 🙂
