vzw is going down???

lafeanto

Oct 14, 2007, 7:50 AM
ok, so i have been reading some consumer reports magazines and one that i have read was about cell phones. it said that t mobile is really starting to bring verizon wireless down. the magazine said that t mobile is beating verzion's customer care, and they said that when they get 3g they are going to have even better things than verizon's vcast service. and i used to have verizon wireless last year and i had them for a 1 year contract with an lg chocolate the black one. and i have to say that i regret going to t mobile's service because the v cast could do so much on my chocolate. the only reason that i went to t mobile was because they had better service than verizon wireless. but i dont understand why a magazine says that t mobile is beati...

I will give you the same reason I give everyone that quotes the useless consumer reports. Do your own research. If you do not then its on you. Only you know why you switched. If you want data you obviously are not going to tmobile. ANd if you are with verizon for data you are not with the best either. You need to try it out were you work and live and traval and see if what you want works for you not what works for anyone else!

i doubt verizon is goin down anytime soon. i switched to t-mobile from verizon (cheaper prices) and i still regret it. t-mobile will always be better than sprint but i dont think they will ever take down verizon.

another ignorant statement. They may be better in CS but that is it. Sprint is in more places then tmobile and their data is not even comparable.

for plans, i prefer t-mobile. they have cheaper voice and data plans (i use about 4000 myfaves minutes a month) but the service just isnt cutting it for me. i'll keep t-mobile for myfaves and m2m but i'm getting another verizon phone so i can actually use my phone

Just wanted to note that perhaps T-mobile has cheaper plans, however, metrics indicate that customers actually want more goodies and thus they pay more. they have the 2nd highest voice ARPU.

What analysts are referring to is not the current state of the T-Mobile or the wireless industry, it is T-Mobile's positioning for future deployment of 3G services, enhanced UMA, exclusive handsets like the sidekick series and htc exclusives, and cost effctive rate plans. The strides the company has taken since its North American deployment have been impressive and with tower develpoment gaining , not losing, momentum the future looks very bright for the company and for its subscribers.

that is obvious TheTmobileGuy. Everyone knows that with T-mobile’s recent acquisitions of AWS and Suncom should allow them to become a great competitor but in order to actually fully become on is to expand their coverage and capacity very aggressively. lafeanto mentioned a few of the aspects like “vzw is going down??? It said that t mobile is really starting to bring Verizon wireless down. “ he did say some correct statements like T-mobile has a better customers service and when T-mobile’s 3G will come out it will be tough against them, however, the first two quotes I mentioned is ridiculous. I don’t care if it will be in the future, because it isn’t. Verizon leads in almost every single category against T-m...

It apparently wasn't obvious taking into account the responses of some posters. T-Mobile has been expanding coverage considerably and supports full transparency on its network assets as shown by being the first carrier to offer the Personal Coverage Check and showing when and where cell sites are placed. As the underdog and newest of the national carriers T-Mobile has had an uphill battle but going from a launch in Hawaii to the verge of 30 million subscribers and the top of customer service (their IT was also top 20 in Business week alongside the service departments) is impressive. The company as stated previously has a bright futrue and churn is on a steady decline as network coverage and capacity improves, and penetration into new markets...

Personal coverage check and other coverage maps doesn’t mean that much especially since many of us have experienced where there are supposed to be coverage but that doesn’t seem to be the case when we go to those areas. We have already said most of the things you have already said, so no need of repeating. If you want to bring something new to the table then by all means but many of the comments are very premature. I think that this company will be great or could be in the future but things need to happen before they even come close to that designation.

Its been so designated in many markets by Telephia, JD Power, Business Week, Forbes, its own subscribers andConsumer Reports. it will only get better. the Personal Coverage Check is more or less accurate with variables such as weather and traffic altering mapped coverage areas. 😉

I mentioned this earlier but those companies I don’t care about their opinions into my argument and all I care is about the trends that a company is setting and data that can be recovered such as ARPU, MOUs and other better data to determine what the consumers are saying about the company. of course, it will get better, again that is nothing new.

No coverage map especially their personal coverage map is not accurate because of what I mentioned earlier. What happens if they said it’s a green area or a good area but a cell site is out? Unfortunately, coverage maps should never be looked at for potential usage in the coverage and the customer should do more than just looking at the maps i.e. Talking to others, asking the carriers ...

Sorry, TmobileGuy, i think your arguments are falling on deaf ears. Nextel18 doesn't put stock in such fly by night companies as JD Powers, Business Week, Forbes or Consumer Reports; those are just the crazy isolated opinions of wackos wearing tin foil hats! I'm sorry, that's not quite accurate, is it? all of those use massive nationwide surveys and industry experts to base their findings. the earth is flat, the sky is plaid, the moon is made out of green cheese; since i just put these statements into print, they all carry the same weight as surveys by those supermarket tabloids. 🙄

“TMO is great if you want a cheap plan.” This trend is actually changing though due to the increase in data ARPU but more importantly voice ARPU. Customers are now realizing that T-mobile has more to offer than just a cheap plan because they are getting goodies and services like UMA and new Side Kick devices.

Don’t rely on Consumer Reports. Verizon isn’t going down anytime soon. T-mobile has 28 million customers while Verizon is in the 60s. T-mobile has a long way before they even get in the same league as Verizon. I do have to say, however, that T-mobile’s AWS acquisition and Suncom’s acquisition allows them to grow significantly and purchase spectrum at less per MHz/pop then Verizon. In fact, T-mobile in all pays less MHz/pop against Verizon. I would say that after t-mobile expands on their coverage and capacity and rolls out aggressively their 3G network, I think then we can compare them to Verizon or AT&T or Sprint. they will be a powerhouse when they have that 3G network completed in 2009. It is premature now. they are ri...

I play chess. I think if we are going to be comparing on the chess board these two competitors is that one is advance (with Verizon Wireless) and one is (T-mobile USA) in the intermediate level but expanding their ratings. I think Verizon will still be that GM for a long time while T-mobile USA will be at the IM level. After and only if T-mobile expands its understands and studies more, I think they will reach the GM level and we should see some a showdown of two GMs going at it for the number 1.

Also something to note.

T-mo is a fairly new company in the US but Deutsche Telekom has been around and seen global success.

I though it was interesting that T-mo, the global brand, has around 110 million customers.

It is very exciting to see it all unfold. Competition means lower prices and better technology and better customer service.

Yea, I know all about DT and T-mobile USA’ history, but grant point, and it is fascinating how they turned this US division from becoming nothing into a very powerful company going into the future, however, they do have a long way to go. Globally their brand is amazing. T-mobile USA is starting to become a big contribution to earnings and revenue for the DT group and that should continue as DT continues to spend money into the USA operation from expanding coverage and capacity to acquisition of that AWS spectrum at cheap valuations. Now they have to build out extensively their network and capacity and come out with 3G and the other 3 big carriers should definitely worry, but to say that VZW is going down is very premature especially s...

I dont think VZW is going down.

I think they are great for certain people in certain areas who have specific needs.

I chose t-mobile because they work for me here in Phoenix. They have great coverage and CS and also they are relatively inexpensive with cool phones.

What makes this chess game very interesting is the backing of T-mo by DT and the backing of VZW by voda.

Well i don't know the technicalities of consumer reports (other than I do know that T-Mobile was ranked #1 with J.D. Power & Associates for customer care), i just know of personal experience. I've had Verizon for years. Yes, they're a bit more expensive than most other carriers, but it's rare that I find a place that I don't have reception. I decided to try T-Mobile out for a test run, because A) their plans were MUCH cheaper and you got more, and B) i was urking to get the Sidekick phone (and the Sidekick "plan" is awesome). So, I tried it out. The Sidekick phone is probably the hottest phone on the market in my opinion. The design, set-up, and capabilities. Unfortunately, with the T-Mobile service, I had little or no reception in my area, ...

i do have to say that t-mobile has won the JD power award 6 times in a row for being the BEST in customer service! also i understand your need to switch wireless companies to meet your needs... but you have to remember that not one single wireless company has everything you want.. for example.. i love the iphone which at&t has, but i love the low prices and rate plans that t-mobile has! also i love the music hunter from verizon and the walkie talkies with nextel/sprint! you just have to find the one that works for you and meets the most of your needs... 😁

Verizon Wireless is the best company hands-down. Before you start typing your reply answer this question: When was the last time you had a dropped call? Don't lie..you know it was today, yesterday, last week, last month. With Verizon Wireless service and a working phone that is not liquid damaged or dropped down the stairs, you do not drop calls. I have worked for Verizon for 8 years and could count my total dropped calls on one hand. C'mon lets here all your replies!!!

I have a couple of dropped calls from Verizon. But I don't agree with people saying that Verizon is going down. You have too many business's and consumers that use Verizon just cause of theire reliability. Verizon DSL is kicking ass. Verizon Cable will be coming soon.(I think) They have 2nd largest network. T-moblie is like 5th. But Verizon could do something about their customer service. It's pretty bad. But other than that Verizon won't be going down at all any time soon.
