Is GSM worse than CDMA?

I currently use Verizon in the Indianapolis area. Their network is rock solid, and I can't complain really. However, I am starting to think that Verizon is pretty stingy when it comes to "extras".
I have looked at T-Mobile (not AT&T), and I am wondering what some of you think about their network in Indy? Do you have trouble with dropping calls, etc.?
I like the idea of "My Faves" because that would actually work for me. I also think HotSpot @ home is pretty cool, although they need to allow all of their Wi-Fi capable handsets to be compatible with it.
I ask Verizon when they are going to add something like a circle of friends, or early nights and weekends, and all I get is "but we have the best network".
Thanks for the help.

T-Mobile generally has up to standard network (up on par with DE I think)
why don't you give a try first?

Yeah Verizon reps are definitely trained to back their network. A lot of the T-Mobile calling features are great especially for the different types of UNLIMITED services you can get. MyFaves or the HotSpot@Home you have mentioned. It is always worth giving it a shot and the best bet is to wait for the Blackberry Curve which will be the newest HotSpot phone with MyFaves capability which is also WiFi for the voice side as WiFi data for faster browsing speed. I don't know the network in Indianapolis but it is definitely worth the trial period. 😁

I am not knocking any carrier but GSM in general. I dont' like it. It sounds like your talking from a bottom of a tin container. And distant. That is me.

And verizon does not have the best network tha tany one peroson can tell. All the people that have verizon and used my phone when I had sprint said the call was clearer with sprint. And now with alltel they say is the same. Alltel will give you a credit automaticaly if you call is droped. In 4 months with them so far I only have had 1 credit.

Alltel isn't here in Indianapolis. They have coverage, of course, but they do not have any local numbers. My sister uses them next door in Ohio, and she loves them.

It all depends on where you live and commute... I have Verizon in South Florida market and I've had ATT and T-Mobile in the past... I've dropped probably 1 call in over a year... so for me, Verizon has the best network here... i think the fact that a company will give you credit for dropping calls is like Acknowledging that their network is sub-par... 🤣

just my thoughts...

no its saying we are so sure you won't drop a call with us we will even guarantee it. That is what it means.

Imagine if att did that they would go broke!

Both have their disadvantages and advantages. GSM might be worse than CDMA but WCDMA/HSPA is not. If you want “stuff” added to your plan then I would go with T-mobile. In addition, that MYFAVES is quite popular.

I work in the Indianapolis market, and the coverage is really good. Like all of these requests, it would help to know where you live/work/play in Indy. I work in Lafayette, IN, but I know the manager at the Washington and Mitthoefer (sp?) store pretty well. His name is Greg and he would welcome the opportunity to help you ascertain the quality of the network in Indy.

Agree to wait for the Curve if you want to go with Hotspot@Home...
...or for any other reason for that matter! 🤤

I live/work in the NE Side of Indianapolis. Verizon is rock solid up here. I can't even remember my last dropped call, and I use and LG VX5300.
I like what I see other companies doing though. It would be great if Alltel was an option here. They have the coverage, but no local numbers to sell in the 317 area code.

Yes T-Mobile has the MYFAVES and this is a great feature. But Verizon does have unlimited incoming calls. I am not saying which is better or which works better for who, but that is kinda there equivalent. Just puttin it out there.

Verizon doesn't have unlimited incoming calls. I've never heard of that in the 4+ years I've been with them. Sprint/Nextel has it, and so does Centennial Wireless, but they're the only ones that I know of.

If I was you I would tell them to take it and cancel your account if they mislead you to believing that or didn't do anything if you led them to belileve that is what you thought and they didn't correct you. If you are within your 30 days!
