Good day all…I am thinking of switching service and I was curious what people thought…I am weighing t-mobile vs at&t…as I can see the pros with t-mobile are cost and the my favs…at&t has better internet services but cost more…I do want decent internet service but I am not a real heavy user…please let me know what you think of the service/phones and any pros/cons…thanks

depends on what market you are in and how far you are in the city. midwest to west coast t-mo holds #1 spot for reception and call quality. not to mention 5 years at the #1 spot for customer service rated by JD powers. and to be honest the only way to tell is try out the services... temp numbers are availible and you can port in your current number at anytime, if you feel the service is right for you. every company has a trial period anywhere between 14 to 30 days. i personally hav t-mo because of the ease of international service.

good luck

I was kind of interested in the same question but with US Cellular. I am in the chicago location and I have been with us cellular for over 6 years now. I'm thinking about switching to tmobile, but I have read and heard that they drop calls a lot. Is this true? Is it because they are on GSM Satelite?

Thanks 😎

well, we dont use satalites. we use cell towers like the rest of em. if you guys want to know about coverage, go to t-mobile.com and click on coverage...its a map that you can check service on. its kewl.

as far as prices, we got both us cellular and at&t beat.

internet...i havent checked at&ts yet, but ours you can add to a plan or get a standalone internet. check on the website. essentially if you get it for a laptop it gives you about dsl-ish speed anywhere you can make a phone call, and t-1 connection (super fast) at any hotspot location...(i.e. starbucks, hotels, airports etc.)

oh yeah, we have cool phones too.

im out: cellphoneninja.

T-mobile's internet is slower than DSL. More comparable to dial-up. True they cost more, but it's for better internet. In the city limits, from my experience, T-mobile works better than AT&T. Outside of the city, T-mobile is hit or miss. Use the personal coverage check with all of the places you plan on traveling. AT&T has a coverage check as well on their site. Compare and see what will work best for you.

GSM is still on towers. satelite is a whole different coversation and pricing all together.

as far as the chicago area t-mobile is great but yes check out the coverage maps to specifically see.

GSM is just great if you do any international travel or like to switch from phone to phone (SIM Cards).

but honestly i have no clue how US Cellular is like. never really heard of pros and cons yet.

Check out JD Powers too. as far as midwest/west goes t-mo is best in call clearity, price, and reception. not to mention 5 years going for the #1 spot in Customer Satisfation

Dont really trust JD Powers since the old AT&T wireless used to dominate it and look where they are now [bought out due to lack of income and unable to compete]

Your best bet is to ask people around your area who they have and their expeinced and also test it for yourself. If you are in the southern states, AT&T dominates that area over T-Mobile. Not to mention the size of AT&T's coverage compared to T-Mobile's.

true. it depends where you live. even in minnesota where t-mo is rated #1 when you go far up north away from the city, verizon may be a better choice.

i was with tmobile 5 years, though i love there costumer service i just didnt get as good reception as my verizon, alltel, and even sprint friends did! i kept getting dropped calls, and having to walk around until i got reception while everyone else did.

so i went with alltel finally, is the only company that some what compares to tmo prices. because verizon could put a hole in your pockets and sprint, no need to even talk . . .

so far so good--no dropped calls--way better reception, im in virgina, newport news, hampton, norfolk, williamburg, D.C, fort belvoir, and i also travel to the carolinas i will have to try it there this weekend when i go.

but you just have to check out where you travel if you do, and ask around to people ...
