20 numbers ported to Verizon by me personally in the month of December - Check

Sorry, had to. 😁

Congrats on the 3G! I remember when GSM first started for AT&T. I hated those days. Migrations took up to a week.

Im pretty sure that just like you ported to (let's call it) the other wireless carrier... There's another 20+ porting from "that" carrier to Cingular... 😉

You know what I tell customers who threaten to go to Vz for A or B?

Customer: I don't know if I want to upgrade or renew my contract with Cingular... I think I might want to go to Vz..
Me: I think is funny that you bring that up, because now more than ever before people are porting in from Vz...
Customer: 😲 really? 😳
Me: Yep!
Customer: Ok, I kinda like that RAZR...
Me: Ugh! 🙄 Ok... We can get your phone upgraded to that OR.... (as I try to upgrade them to something else... making sure I keep them with Cingy)

Go right ahead! Make sure you let us all know how that goes... Especially in the call clarity department... 🙄

good lord...could we all just give it a rest. None of the carriers are far better than the other. They are all very similar. Everyone will get what they want based on what they need.

So lets end 2006 by not saying one thing about how this or that carrier sucks. Just one day. Then January 1, you can all start complaining again.

I bet we cant go 1 day...but thats just me.

I just have a couple of questions and I could care less about who is no 1, 2 or 3 but I am currently with Verizon, I found out they have no plan to reintroduce push to talk at least not anytime soon, so I decided I am going to a company that does offer PTT, I went to a local Cingular store in (Fresh Meadows NY) to try the phones out, I had tried Cingular in the past and I didn't like the sound quality (CDMA has better sound than GSM) at least to me. Anyway I was looking at the phones, in particular the LG CU400, I tried to make a test call, phone showed plenty of sig, but I couldn't complete a call. Finally the sales rep asked to help me I asked if I could try the PTT service I was told they didn't have any phones in the store set up for it,...

Are you sure that this was a corporate Cingular store? From the sound of it, I don't believe it was. And if it was indeed a corporate store, trust that they are likely one of the very very very few that don't have live phones. I've never heard of such a thing with any other wireless store, no matter what carrier.

I would suggest visiting a different Cingular store in your area (if there is one) where you can actually get some real service. I'm sure you will find that the original store you visited was the exception.

Also, you mentioned something about churn and Verizon being number one in no time. I don't know if you realize but if churn trends continue the way they are, Cingular will have the lowest churn in the industry...their churn...

yes I am 100 percent sure it was a Cingular owned store, if you want to see info on the store go to (find a store) and type in 11365 as the Zip Code and it will be the 1st store that shows up on the list and as you will see it will say (Cingular Wireless - Company Owned).

Getting back to the churn rate, from everything I have read, Verizon has always had the highest rate of new subs and the lowest rate of people leaving, Cingular might be getting better in terms of churn but if the current trend keeps up and it appears that it will Verizon will be the # 1 cell phone company in terms of subscribers possibly even this year, again as I said in my original post the only reason I am leaving Verizon is that they have no current plant to relaunc...

That's so true, and so funny, mobile to mobile is free anyway, so why are people so worried about paying more for ptt? lol

i know that cingular and verizon ptt are not the same, they are nowhere as fast as nextel, verizon however did have a chance to compete with nextel w/EVDO Rev A but from what i read they are not going to re-release it, kodiak is faster than the present verizon or sprint (readylink) ptt but still not as good as nextel. I also have no problem paying extra for ptt i hate texting takes to long, ptt is instantaneous. Getting back to my main point of ptt i would have never left verizon has they still planned to re-release ptt.

What do you mean re-release? It's available right now. Granted there are only 2 phones available for sale on their website, you can still purchase Verizon PTT phones on ebay. I think that Verizon is waiting to see how well cingular does with their PTT, which from what I see, is not going so well. Calling someone is also instantaneous if the other person is there to answer their phone. The other person still has to answer their phone with PTT so.................

Can a PTT customer/ or future customer tell me why they need or want PTT, when you have to pay extra for it, instead of using free mobile to mobile? What sense does this make?

I used to sell PTT phones to over-protective parents who wanted to keep taps on their several children, but were too lazy to make several phone calls... 😕

but that's what I'm saying...keep tabs? The person still has to accept the ptt call, just as one has to answer a phone call. How does PTT make reaching someone better? Only thing it does, is cost more lol

Isn't it quite possible to make several PTT attempts before the child answers?

chirp chirp....."aww man, it's my mom!"

chirp chirp....."dude just don't answer"

chirp chirp.....*powering down*

Here's the thing though. I can text someone as quickly as you can PTT someone. As far as the Rev. A goes I don't know. I haven't heard of any "new" PTT service through Verizon. It's not a hot selling service right now so I doubt there will be any major changes soon. Sorry.

I understand it is not really popular with any carrier other than Sprint/Nextel but both my wife and myself prefer using it, we really dont like texting, not as fast as ptt conversation, of course we still can make phone calls if we want full duplex conversations.

I also use Nextel 's at work and I dont always carry my personal phone with me, I work a a Cable TV Engineer, so as I stated earlier, I might be in a s...
