Need new cell phone company

Okay here is the deal. I have been a Cingular customer for over 7 years. They said because the past 5 months which I was on the family plan and just upgraded 1 on my phones 5 months ago Cingular said they are dropping me because in 5 months only 49% of my phone usage was on Cingular towers and 51% was on other peoples towers. Which I travel a lot and my phone always says Cingular no matter where I was, how was I to know what tower I was using. So I am in search of a new company. Any suggestions?

Thank You
Carol

the next logical choice would be the company next on the list, Big Red VZW. Atleast they are in close competition with cingy as they only have 2 million less customers and a great sized network. Everyone is jumping from sprextel like rats running off a ship, and T-Mob has a crappy coverage area.

Sprextel - Sprint/Nextel? Actually I would like to go to Verizon but will I have the same problem. The people in my area are Sprint, Cellular One which really sucks and got screwed by them before and Cellcom which has poor customer service in my area. I have 20 days left.

Verizon has a similar policy but it is rarely enforced. It is possible in the future for them to make a similar move though.

Screw Cingular. Tell them to take a hike and get yourself Verizon, but b4 you do, read on. BTW, I also have a Cingular family plan, but if they told me to take a hike, I'd be gone, to Verizon. Make sure they don't stick you with an ETF, bcuz they're dropping you....you are not dropping them. If Verizon isn't available, hopefully Alltel is an option.

Either way, I'd recommend having the nu service up and running before porting #'s or disconnecting Cingular, as you may not like your new carrier and may need to try another. Porting after the fact may cost a few $$$ extra, but will save a ton of heartache should your first replacement carrier not be up to par. Last but not least, let us know if Cingular's retention unit has a change of heart...

One more thing, after unloading Cingular you can recoup some $$$ putting your phone(s) for sale on EBAY. What I don't know is whether or not Cingular would want that recently upgraded phone returned, but the other(s) are yours to do with as you please. If they want the phone back, they may want the SIM too, but others on this forum are better qualified to answer that than I am.

Tried talking to Cingular again and so far now they said that there will be no ETF, but I am stuck with the razor I had bought and the other 4 phones ( which are what 3 years on the Samsungs and 4-5 on the Motos). But that Razor... I am mad about the whole thing. They also said that in my area as a whole however has been using it mainly in this area is going to be dropped. It wasn't looked at by individual phones. But I am calling again tomorrow and complain a little more maybe I can get them to let me keep the service, but doubt it. Also at one point the day before the lady said there was not a tower for 100 miles from me so why then are they selling phones in a city that is 40 miles from me. I travel to that city weekly and most of my call...

Do you by chance live in the Carolinas? If so, Suncom would be a great option. They use GSM also. If Alltel is available in your area, I would choose them because you can pick up VZW's towers but you will get more minutes for less money.

Well I signed up for Verizon but still worried about the service. I have 14 days. Bought the Samsung 930 and the reception kind of sucks up here, northeast WI. I have 2 bars and can not access the internet. Still thinking about Sprint but there coverage map for actual towers do not look so good even though they say they have all over service, and no roaming.
